Pretty much the only thing preventing me from melting weight off is SODIUM INTAKE.  My average for that last 2 weeks is 3,260 mg per day.  About 45% above my daily recommendation to lose A LOT of weight.

Any advice on cutting down?  Thanks!

processed foods is a huge one , frozen dinners is another big one.   I love to season things and you need to watch that also if you cook with alot of different  spices that really can add up in the sodium.

I love to marinate my chops in them marinades like bourbon peppercorn but I pay the price because of the sodium.

I am like you I have to watch my sodium intake also.  Any time I go over 2000 a day Im retaining water .

The only thing I can tell you is if you are tracking your foods then you need to cut back on the foods that have alot of sodium in them and drink lots of extra water .

try seasoning your foods with herbs instead  my dr had taken me off of sandwich meats, frozen dinners, fresh or frozen veggies instead of canned veggies,  dairy has a good deal of sodium

hope you are able to get the sodium intake down  you can always call your dr and have them give you a list of acceptable foods for a low sodium diet

Canned Veggies I drain ....

The best way to lower your sodium is nix table salt unless you use sea or kosher and you can use a lot less.

I buy deli turkey reduced sodium and the same with my sargento cheese reduced sodium and eat from fresh veggies and fruit.

Frozen meals and canned soups are the killer so if you cook make your own soup and use reduced sodium broth. Ms. Dash I know you think yuck but she came out with a whole NEW line of dashes and they are good use them in seasoning your meats.

Even Cottage Cheese is high in sodium!  Who knew?!

You already got great advice, but the only way to truly avoid it is to cook your own food, fresh without salt or marinades that come in a jar.  Don't add table salt ever!

It sounds boring but cooking with fresh herbs tastes great and will save you the sodium.  I would highly recommend Jean M.'s cookbook.  Bandwagon Cookery  You can order it directly from her at [email protected]  It's full of great recipe's that even non-cooks like me can manage.

Best~

It's not just sodium that makes us retain fluid. Insulin is the second mos****er retaining hormone after anti-diuretic hormone (ADH). Eating lots of carbs makes you produce lots of insulin, and can result in fluid retention.

My DH can lose or gain 4 lbs in a day just from eating a lovely dessert.
