Vertigo

 Hello everyone!!
Haven't  been on here in a while, but I do have a question. Well about a month ago I started having a lil dizziness when I layed down. Then it progressed to getting dizzy when I would be moving around. Last week when I got dizzy I would have some nausea with it.  So glad I had some phenergan to take. Well I started getting worried, so I went to the dr. (pcp) and he said I had vertigo probably caused by an inner ear issue. He was concerned because I have had it for so long and it was getting worse. I don't have any other symptoms. Now that really scared me. I have an appt to get an MRI tomorrrow morning. As of now my diizziness has got better and I don't have it as much. I did take dramamine for a couple of days. I was wondering does this dizziness have anything to do with my band. Im 5 months out. Has anybody had an issue like this. Thanks for any input.

Lynn

Can you describe what the dizziness feels like?

At first it felt like I was floating when I layed down, the when I would move it was like the room was spinning.

Sometimes its just coincidence and has nothing to do with the band. Your symptoms sound  much like a coworker of mine who has Menieres diease. http://www.menieres-disease.ca/vertigo.htm  Good luck!

Glad I could help!!  My coworker who has it has retired six months ago but I seem to remember that medication did give her some improvement.  Best wishes to you.

I had a similar experience many years ago, was diagnosed with Meniere's disease, and was treated with meclizine (sp?). I thought the Meniere's had come back a  year or so ago but it turned out to be an ear infection.

I doubt that it has anything to do with your band.

Thanks for the input. I will look it up and check it out. Just wanted to ask, I never had any issues with dizziness. Last time I had it I was prego and thats not the case here. Thanks again.

Lynn,

In my previous post, I forgot to mention that this summer I had some vertigo that I thought was positional hypotension (blood pressure drops when you stand up or change position suddenly). My PCP thought it was caused by a a calcium crystal (not uncommon in old folks like me) that stuck in my inner ear. He went through an interesting routine of having me lie down with my head in different positions to dislodge the crystal. I was skeptical about that procedure but it worked!
