I'm at almost 1 year out and have lost 48 lbs so far.  A lot less than I thought but ok, i'll take it.

Went for a fill last week and dr. said i'm already at like 10cc and he hesitates to add more for fear of over-restriction.

I'm losing weight super slowly and now he says i should just go on an Atkins type regime.  So now what? I'm just like any other woman in the world to diet another 50 lbs away?

I thought I'd reach that point with 30 or 20 lbs to go but not this early in the game.

I tried to do some research on this site but may not be looking in the right direction.

Any thoughts?

I only lose weight (slowly) but am losing if I follow the atkins diet.   I began doing gluten free at first and my body loved it.  My friend was on atkins and I began that as well and it began the loss.

You should try this and see if it helps.  My dr doesn't like to fill to close to the 10 either.   You can do this!!

You aren't alone lots reach a point where they are basically dieting again and some never get restriction so you still have your band to help and just keep at it slow but sure! I fully believe in Atkins type eating plans, the only way I ever lose is that way.

The band can be filled beyond its official capacity. I'd try to negotiate with your surgeon for another very small fill.

I can't help you with the Atkins question. Atkins bores me to tears and I think I'm the only person in the western hemisphere who gained weight on it.

You are not alone, I can't do Atkins b/c my PCOS makes me super carb sensitve and even the small amount of carbs (even the good one's) keeps me from losing and can even make me gain!

I agree with Jean, they can go slightly above capacity (my doc told me at the start that he was willing to go at least 2 cc's over the "limit"). See if you can get a small fill to help you along, and then follow Atkins for a bit to see if you can get things jump started.

Really with any WLS following the high protein, low carb diet is always going to be the way to go.

I personally know someone like that.  She is filled over 10 ccs and she has no restriction.  At that time I was over 9 ccs and had no restriction and I feared the same thing would happen to me.  There are some people that have very high tolerance for the bands (myself included).  Like some other have mentioned the band can be filled over 10 ccs.  I would talk to the doctor about getting a small fill (like .2 ccs).  Sometimes that's all it takes.  I know that's how it worked for me.  I am currently filled to about 9.8 ccs.  I feel good restriction.  Sometimes I feel I could use a little more but I resist going in for more fills.

Good luck.

I kept my band at the looser end because I like eating a variety of foods... if I had a fill I couldn't eat complex carbs much.. so in my case it's a personal issue.

Maybe log what your consuming and see where you can make changes might help? I do better when I log and track every bite and nibble and I see little places where I can make improvements.

Good Luck
