So, after much research and discussion with my doctor, I've decided to have lap-band surgery. I know lots of people who have made the lifestyle changes necessary for the surgery to work and they have had amazing results. what i havent been able to guage is whether or not u can have children after lap-band?

I havent seen my surgeon yet and my doctor seems to think it will not be a problem. Can anyone give me some feedback on the subject?

We have had quite a few band babies on here. I think there is a board dedicated to pregnancy post wls somewhere on this site.

Ate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

The one great gift that my band gave me was my baby! My band was awesome all during pregnancy, it kept me from gaining a ton of weight and everybody was healthy as could be though the whole thing!

You can Definitely still have babies!!   My baby girl was born on 6/3/11.   I got pregnant with her about 7 months out.   I didn't have my band loosened at all during my pregnancy.  I didn't have morning sickness so I didn't throw up -  but you might need to keep that in mind if you do get morning sickness.  I lost 15 pounds in the first trimester and gained it back during the second and third.  So I ended at the same weight I started and then lost 30 pounds after she was born.

I have a DS that was about 9 monts old when I got banded and I my pregnancies were really similar.  The most frustrating part was not being able to indulge in all of my cravings, but it passes.

My baby girl is perfect and healthy and was born the exact same weight as her brother so she got plenty of nutrition too.

I have PCOS so I don't know if my band made it easier or not.  I had to do femara with both my kids but she was conceived on the 2nd try!  The only thing that was weird is that I BARELY passed the 3 hour gestational diabetes test even though I had lost 125 pounds.  My doc siad it was my placenta effecting my insulin and nothing to do with me.   I was upset about it because I had passed it with flying colors with my son when I was over 300 pounds so I expected to pass it again and was upset with I failed the 1 hour test.

You can definitely have a band baby!!

Yep in fact you have to watch it because it seems as soon as gals drop a few pounds they turn into Fertile Myrtles! You may have one sooner than you expect!
