exercise - no cost and actually saves money!
Here in the UK we get free travel on all local buses for everyone aged 60 or over. So I got my pass a few weeks ago!
So now when I go into the local town...
no fuel cost, (our petrol (gas) is now $8.50 a US gallon!)
no town centre parking charge,
ecologically sound
AND as bus stops are never quite where you need them to be, lots of extra walking!

I started commuting to work via bus this year and love it! It saves me $10 a day in parking and I get to play a lot of games, read or nap.
The only thing I regret is that I didn't do it 10 years ago! What a waste of $$, gas and sanity.
