How many calories do most of you get in a daily basis?

Hello all. I was wondering (mainly to those who are losing weight pretty stedily) how many calories do you get in a daily basis? I think I'm doing under 1300. Would that be good or bad?
I have lost close to 30 pounds since my surgery about 6 weeks ago. And keep in mind that is without doing any pre-op diet. Or liquid diet.
Thank you

1800. Lol. I'd advise against 1300. But, just my opinion.

While losing, about 1200 although I never really counted.

In England all our medical advice is never to eat under that as you cannot get a balanced diet on less without major supplementation.
Diets like WW are usually based around the 1200-1400 level. Some people eat less but if you are losing on what you are eating now, why inflict more pain on yourself?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I usually get in anywhere between 1200 - 1400 calories.  Do you log your food?  I use MyPlate on www.livestrong.com.  It's a free site, and it tells you how many calories you should have daily for your weight and how much you want to lose per week.

Keep in mind - on the days I work out, my calories need to be higher than on rest days.

My Dr really isn't concerned about counting calories, but instead, keeping track of grams of protein, sugar, carbs, and making sure I get all my water in.

Congrats on your loss so far.  Good luck!

Rachel.

The last few weeks I have started to question myself if I am getting enough calories for my body and my exercise needs .

I weigh 285 pounds and if I go to where I log in my food for me to lose 1.5 pounds a week I should be eating around 2100 calories per day .  That is about every website I checked give or take a few calories here and there.

I am struggling to lose weight right now and I eat between 1000 to 1300 calories.  .

When I did my Richard Simmons he had me on 2000 calories a day and I was losing anywhere from 1 to 3 pounds per week and that was just exercising three days a week sometimes four.  Now , I have cut my calories in half and exercise anywhere from two days to three days a week and I cant lose anything .

I had more success losing weight with more calories .  I was doing some research last night and it amazed me how many calories it takes our body just to get up and get going in the mornings , how much you burn just sitting and doing nothing .  The numbers amazed me.

I have been chatting with a poster on here that has been very successful at her weight loss and she had to end up upping calories because she was not losing either and as soon as she did she took weight off almost every week.

I am going to start adding some more calories into my diet  and see how it goes .

It's really hard for me to justify how I lost 1-3 pound per week eating 2000 calories and now I am eating 1000 to 1300 calories and cant even lose a pound .  Something just dont make sense .   I should be losing weight left and right with just eating that few of a calories but I am not .

And I know I have said on here that I have struggled the last month or so , but even with my popcorn snacks at night or my bowl of chips I was still only eating 1300 calories a day even with my snacks.

As per my surgeons direction I ate 800 calories a day.  Mostly protein.  I did only moderate exercise during my first year post op so 800 was fine.  If you exercise a lot try to maintain an average of 1000 per day.  My surgeon is very strict on keep in the calories low for the first year post op.

Best~

P.S.  Ambelina is a member of the support group I lead here in the Seattle area but she lives in Salem.  I know she and Tiffany are coming up for our Support group meeting this Saturday.  If you want to meet a lot of great bandsters contact her and see if you can hitch a ride with them.  They are both great ladies and would be good local support for you.

Lap Band surgery Nov. 2008, SW 335. Lost 116 lbs.  LB removal May 2013 gained 53 lbs. Revisied to RNY October 14, 2013, new SW 275.

I read an article the other day that stated eating below 1200 calories a day for an extended period of time trashes your metoblism over time.. and I have enough of that issue with aging.. I do better when i eat closer to 1200-1400 but I exercise.

I think it depends on the person as well what is good for me might not be for you.. i think you need to play around it with more .. with all that said you need to listen to your body and follow your doctors plan. I only begain calculating once I was 9 months out .. otherwise I followed my dr plan of 4 ounces etc.

Good Luck

Hermosa,

I was reading about that last night I went and did alot of searching  about metabolism and calories and they all said the same thing in fact the lady I have been talking to that was the first thing she told me also and she knows alot about nutrition !!

The articles I was reading said if you go to low on calories for your weight size in the long run it does end up trashing your metabolism.  You have to either up your calories to lose weight again  or make another drastic cut in calories to start losing weight again.

I'm going to try to up my calories and see if that helps I just cant go no lower in calories I just dont feel like that is safe or good for me in the long run.

I think that is why I did so well with Ricahrd Simmons I would start off when I was at my heaviest at 2300 calories and then I lost fifty pounds he dropped me down to 2000 and I started to lose again when I was just about ready to stall again he would drop me down again to 1800 calories he dropped me after every 50 pounds.
