Coming Out of the Band Closet

Last week the owner of the fitness studio where I work out hosted a book signing event to celebrate the publication of Bandwagon Cookery. We had a good turn-out and everyone enjoyed tasting some dishes made from recipes in the book. This was the first time I talked about my weight loss journey to an audience of "normal" (non-bariatric) people, so I'm officially out of the band closet now. News and gossip travel fast in a small Southern town!

Thanks for the kind words, Nichole. I thought I looked pretty hot at that event until I saw this photo which features my bubble butt in my reflection in the studio mirror!

And that butt was a freebee?!  People pay big bucks for them.

Congrats on coming out.  I kept my wls a secret from almost everyone except for my parents, husband, and an out of state friend.  I made a choice to avoid the scrutiny of others.  I wonder if I'll ever come out..  And, if I did, I wouldn't know how to do it.

You look mahvelous, my cyber friend.  Enjoy all the femine curves that God gave you.

2011 goal                                  It works if you work it!

Maybe I could make some money selling extra butt padding to someone with no butt at all.

I didn't exactly hide my WLS - I was so happy about it, I told everyone about it - but now I know so many people who never knew me obese, and bringing up WLS would have started a long conversation I didn't want to have with all those new people.
