I know this is a vanity question but I am hoping someone can help - I am only one week post op and have 5 small incisions. About 3 of them look good, but the other 2 (the ones on the very front of my belly) are very raised and pulled looking. I have been researching scar treatments and based on the reviews I think I am going to order Scaraway silicone sheets. Has anyone used these? If so, would you recommend? Any other recommendations?

A cheaper and effective way to do this is vitamin E creme from the 99 cent store. I have read the reviews on those sheets and they are a ***** to keep in place.

Mederma scar cream works wonders. My best friend was in a horrible car accident and she had a slice from her lip to her ear and was going to leave a huge scar. She used Mederma and you can barely see the scar. Here is a website if you would like to look into it. Good luck!

I've heard really good things about Mederma, but it's expensive, and I never got any better results than with good old fashioned vitamen E.  But I scar easily and deeply, so I don't always get good results no matter what I use.

After my c-sections, I used pure vitamin E oil. You can barely see my scar. I got a pure vitamin E stick after my band surgery and if I could ever remember to put it on faithfully, I'm sure it would work just as well as the oil. lol! I too, had an incision where my port was that was raised and pulled looking. It took some time for it to look not so raised and pulled. I think over a month. Give it some time and as it heals it should start to look better. Do you have any Family Dollar stores where you live? I've seen the Vit. E oil there for just a few dollars. Walgreens and CVS is runs for about $10. I can't remember how much at Walmart, but cheaper than $10. I snagged the Vit.E stick at Walmart for only 99 cents.

REALIZE Band on 09/03/09 with
Paper Tape.... keep putting the tape on the scars... it really helps a lot.  After I had my breasts done, my doctor had me taping the scars for months after the surgery.  I am very pleased with the results.

I was in a really bad car accident three years ago. I ended up having facial reconstruction - translated as a rebuilt nose and numerous plastic surgeries on my face so I wouldn't look like the bride of Frankenstein. It was literally that bad! I almost lost an eye. I had an absolutely wonderful plastic surgeon and he recommended pure vitamin E oil. You can barely see my scars. I used it faithfully, twice a day.

Thank you so much for all of the responses! I have used pure vitamin e oil in the past on other scars and have had good results - I may just stick with that for nighttime and try a couple of the other options during the day! I will report back with results!

I had surgery on my wrist a couple of years ago. The dr. had me use the silicone pads for that scar. It was amazing. I can hardly find that scar and I know where it is. The dr. said besides just the cosmetic effect the silicone pads help break up the scar tissue beneath the skin (which causes the raised area)
