wow, there are a lot of cry babies on here.  I posted a simple question regarding an issue I was having, and asking for any helpful suggestions. I recieved some helpful information, but I also got some negative rants.  I am not a new bander as suggested by this responder, I have had my band since 2008.  I started my banding journey at 247.5 lbs and wearing a size 22 womens, I am now 155 lbs and wearing a size 9 juniors.  I do understand that some people may have gotten defective bands, but I also feel that some people didn't have success with their bands due to lack of motivation, and failure to follow a proper diet.  I have had my band adjusted many times, and had follow ups with my nutritionist to figure out what was wrong when I hit a plateau.  I have recently slowed with my weight loss and was having a few problems but after discussing things with my Dr he said that he felt no adjustment was needed right now.  He considers me to be one of his biggest success stories with the lap band, those are his words not mine.  I told him that he was my hero for giving me my life back, but his response was that all he did was give me a tool and I was the one who used it with success.  I am very active, I coach little league sports, and also follow a fairly good diet.  I am not saying that I don't have a treat once in a while, but,  I feel like some people expected the band to be magic and do all the work for them, and when it didn't they blamed it for their lack of trying.  The band is a fantastic operation that works very well with motivated patients.

my band was removed yesterday & i weighed in at a whopping 127lbs - please, the band had to come out & had nothing to do with motivation.     but by all means your welcome to your opinion that those who have failed bands weren't at or near goal.

good ******g grief.

I define success as losing almost 100 pounds and being able to maintain that status for 3 yrs.  By the way, I'm not making fun of people with failed bands, I'm sure some people have had defective bands, which I have stated before, and maybe if you weren''t so hot headed and defensive you would have seen that.  I also meant that as a general rule many people don't succeed due to lack of trying or expecting a magical fix.  I wasn't trying to be insulting to anyone, and was only reaching out for some helpful hints when I was dealing with a lot of stress and having problems with my food getting caught in my band.  Now that my stress level has decreased the problem has ceased.  Many people responded with helpful tips and ideas, however, what you had to say, was just plain negative and irrelevant.  I would appreciate you not responding to anymore of my posts, as I am a very positive person and don't want to associate myself with someone like you.

*sigh*  Here we go again.  Michael, go away.  No one wants you here.  INCLUDING the successful bandsters.  Bah-bye.
