RANT! Are those of you will FAILED BANDS sick of hearing this?!

~however the band is only a tool and you have to learn to work with the tool for it to do the job.  Maybe it was defective, or you just didn't follow your diet well enough. ~

This is a post I just gone on the band forum. I am absolutely SICK of hearing all the time: "it's just a tool". That coming from those WITH a "tool", or those expecting they will have a "tool"! Are they so STUPID that they don't realize...................

And the next part: "Maybe you just didn't diet well enough"

Omg! How DARE they?! How dare any of them that knows NOTHING about us tell us we didn't diet well enough?!?!?! That is like telling someone with emphazema that they are on oxygen b/c they are too stupid to know how to breath right! How insulting!

And yet still...............they don't grasp the concept that: IF YOU LOSE WEIGHT ONLY FROM DIETING THAT THE BAND HAS NOT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you Maria!!!!  You are really a trooper and your band has failed you, and you still fight to lose weight!   I think that your dr and the people that made your band deserve to pay for you to have the revision you deserve!!!  xo

Thanks so much. I really appriciate that. I have had a bad day. Didn't feel good today. And to make matters worse I got those comments. that was the 2nd person that posted that type of comment to me. (The first didn't know about how much weight I had lost, and made an ASSumption n said something about my band didn't work b/c I didn't know when  to stop stuffing my face!).

I think the band manufacturers owe a LOT of us a revision! It's just the right thing to do after all the damage they have done to so many. As far as my Dr. I got the band done at a band mill (TrueResults), that LIED to me about the band. I do have a problem with that. I will say that my current Dr. is wonderful. He took over my fills last spring, and as done everything he could to try to make it work. I don't list his on here name b/c I don't want him associated with the negativity that I have had with my band since he is in no way to blame. Now as far as the band mill and their "lap-band advocate".............that's another matter entirely!

I applaud both of you! Yes it is tiresome to constantly be blamed for a useles band! I just don't think those with working "tools" will ever grasp that it doesn't work for everyone.

Exactly Hislady! Now honestly I can understand the successful bandsters not understanding it. You would think that if u got a band and followed the band rules and it worked for you that if others did the same, that it would work for them as well. When it's really annoys me the most  is when it comes from someone that is not doing well with their band, someone that has only been banded a few months...........or worse yet............doesn't even have a band!

I would gladly use it as a "tool" if only I had the "tool" that I paid for!

So...I paid ten grand to have a reason to go on a diet?

That was a stroke of genius on my part.

I would have been better off swallowing an actual tool... maybe a drill. I would have had less pain, probably, than I did with the band.

The band worked for me. It kept me from eating anything at all. I suppose I should have been more careful what I wished for. I always said I'd give anything to lose weight. I should have specified that I didn't mean in exchange for my decent health, huh?

4-5 Drs. now recommend SWALLOWING the band for optimal results! ;-)

You know one lady posted on the forum about 6-8 months ago. She had lost all, or a majority of her weight. Her family was very concerned about her health b/c of the band problems, but she said she now longer minded throwing up almost every day b/c she had lost the weight. So sad! :-(

100% agreed!! I have a leak in my band.  My surgeon's, and his staff's suggestion:  Come back monthly.  Pay $100 each month to get filled.

First off.... wtf.

Second off... I can't afford that!!!  Never mind the fact that I have to drive an hour to my surgeon's office (with gas prices being outrageous, too!)....  Yeah... how about a big "hell no."

I've been logging my calorie intake to right around 1200 calories a day.  I've lost more weight doing that in 6 months than I have with the lap band in 2 years.

I'm sorry to hear this, Kelly.  I'm hearing a lot about leaks lately. What are they doing? Reusing the bands and tubing or what?!

Does Dr. Curry still have his band?
