OK, I've been banded for 17 days now and I have not lost any weight the last 4 days, in fact I've gained to pounds.  I was able to loose 22 pounds while on the liquid and mushy stage of the diet but now after starting the soft food stage I'm not having any success.  I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  I feel like I'm eating virtually nothing and not loosing for example today I had 1 scrambled egg with a slice of cheese and 1 slice of deli turkey, for lunch 1/2 cup of chili and for dinner 3 ounces of Salomon and 1 ounce of spinach.  Can someone please help...I'm starting to get discouraged and I'm hoping I didn't go through this for nothing.  I do weigh myself daily which I know I should but since the 2 pound gain I cant help it.
PS. I've been to zumba twice this week and its been great I plan on going tomorrow also...and even with the exercise the scale isn't moving.

Kira,

This is not a time to worry about losing weight and the odds of you gaining will happen. I put on 7 pounds from my week three of soft foods to week six of solid foods.  It's going to happen and there isn't a darn thing you can do about it.

And you really really need to stay off the scales you will drive yourself insane doing that :o)

Did your doctor not explain any of this to you ? My doc told me right out of surgery and he reminded me of  this many many times before my surgery  that I will probably gain weight the first six weeks.  It comes right back off .

And trust me this will not be the last weight gain you will have through this journey and there will be times you will not lose any weight for a week up to months at a time. I hope your doctor told you that also so you are not in for a huge disappointment.

Now I will get very stern here with you why the heck are you doing Zumba ??? I do Zumba and that is very rough on the stomach muscles !!!!

Did your doctor NOT tell you no exercise the first six weeks after surgery especially doing any kind of exercise like Zumba !!!!!!!

Do you realize that you are taking a huge chance of ripping the stitches around your port . your port is stitched into your stomach muscles and doing Zumba with the kind of AB work that we do with that exercise  my gosh .

The only thing you should be doing the first six weeks is light walking that is it .  I can not believe your doc says its okay to do this that totally blows my mind :o(

I dont mean to sound rude to you but you are putting yourself and your band at risk doing this . I hope you will stop

Thanks for your comment.  Yes, my doctor walking was the only thing we should be doing for the first 6 weeks but I feel great and thought that I could do more.  I guess your right I will hold off on the Zumba for the next 3 weeks I don't want to hurt myself or mess up anything.
Thanks

I have read over and over here that this is very common.  Going from liquids to mushies or mushies to solids often means no loss, a little gain, or very slow loss.  Thank goodness for this board!  It helped me get thru the last few weeks when I wasn't losing at all.  After four weeks of nothing, I finally dropped a couple pounds when I weighed myself earlier this week.  Now, I may plateau again, we'll see, but in the long run, I will do this!  You will, too.  And you're doing much better than I have done so far.  I've lost about 16 pounds, 12 of that the first week.

Actually, that is normal. I learned on a another board that the when our bodies lose weight it only burns a certain kind of fat (Iforget what the name is) that is about 4/5 water. But the thing is that your body only has a certain amount of this fat at any given time, and that is the weight that you lose (fa****er). To lose more weight you body needs to make more of this fat, so you go into a stall or slight gain. Then once the fat is produced in the body, it is burned and your weight loss starts up again. This cycle repeats and repeats causing people who have a compulsion to weigh themselves every day no end of grief.
