14 days post op
I AM ALSO ABOUT 2 WEEKS POST OP, SURGERY AUG 29.. I HAVE LOST 33LBS TOTAL SINCE BEGINNING LIQUIDS.. 12 POUNDS SINCE SURGERY, I THINK WE ARE RIGHT ON TARGET, AS I WAS ON LIQUIDS UNTIL DAY 11.. THEY SAY THAT WEIGHT LOSS WILL SLOW BEC WE ARE NOW EATING SOFT FOODS.. I WOULD FOLLOW THE PLAN GIVEN BY YOUR NUTRITIONIST AND DONT FORGET YOUR ONE A DAY VITAMINS
Hi Jessielynn,
There's a good chance that some of the weight lost is water. Of course, some isn't! And that's great!!!!
But, you're right, you need to make sure you stay healthy. Are you able to take those Viactiv chews yet? Those things saved me.
Are you adding powdered protein to anything? That will help, too.

my Dr had me on prenatals for about 3 years now so I am still on them I have had absolutely no problems with taking any pills (thank goodness because I take so many) The protein drinks on the other hand the nutritionist had me replace with actual protein because I was getting sick. I am doing much better without the protein drinks and dairy
just make sure you get your protein drinks that is the most important thing right now . And its probably alot of water weight you are fine , it will slow down and then you will be begging to have these weeks back again lol . Trust me :o) .
The first couple of weeks you might be lucky just to get in 30-40 grams of protein because your tummy is still swollen as time goes by and you start soft foods / mushy food you can add more protein and it will help with the hunger because the swelling will go down .
Just do your best dont eat things you shouldn't be eating its critical right now to follow your doc's meal plans for healing :o)

I was unable to hold the protein drinks on my stomach so the Dr and nutritionist started me on soft/mushy earlier. My tummy isn't swollen no pain incisions are healing perfectly so I think everything is fine this is just a totally new experience and I am nervous. I am not at all complaining about the lbs lost but I just feel like I am not getting enough nutrients.
You are healing wonderfully then :o) I had no pain incisions either and no gas pains that was a blessing after hearing everybody talk on here about it , that was the part I was most worried about was the pain .
Mushy foods if you like refried beans that is the tops right there for the mushy stage :o) I would eat some refried beans, with melted cheese and dash of light sour cream on top . Oh my gosh is that sooo good and I still eat that till this day I love the stuff and lived on it during my mushy stage :o) It has a lot of protein in it especially when you add the cheese to it .
Also about eggs can you eat them now that is great in protein with melted cheese on top that adds extra protein . There are times I will eat a egg as a snack with some cheese if I'm hungry .,
You will be fine :o) Eat the things that is high in protein and you will be just fine

my first week post-op was horrible I was crying to get the band taken out I was hurting so bad. Once I got off of the dairy and protein drinks everything was so much better within a day or two. I have had poached eggs and also kidney beans but have not tried cheese on them I have been trying to stick to my meal plan to the T.
I was banded on 8/25/11 and was 303 lbs. I have only lost 4 pounds since surgery so count your blessings! I also am having a problem with hunger. Can you post what your eating or drinking if you havent made it to the solid foods yet? Have you already started to exercise? Sorry so many questions I just feel my doctors office is giving me the run around now that I have paid them the money.
Good LUCK!
