I agree that respect needs to go both ways, but I disagree that it happens equally both ways.  I've been a regular here since a few weeks before my surgery, and I see many, MANY more bandsters get ripped apart.

were you around when nurse sandy was spewing her BS - or the software engineer doing much of the same?   like you - my start date is after i left OH for a while because the bashing of those with problems.

at least those with complications speak out loud nowadays vs hiding in a band grad board / yahoo group talking about them, because those individuals USE to bash / blame others.

lots of history here & it's nice to see old / new sharing - no matter the journey.

~I've seen failed bandsters on THIS forum treated with respect and sympathy that it did not work for them.  I have not seen anyone blame the bandster for failed weight loss or complications any more than the other surgeries.  (And I don't recall ever seeing it here.)~

Your kidding! Right??? You didn't read the post yesterday "GET OFF OF MY BOARD!"? You honestly thought that he was not blaming the bandster????????? You don't recall ever seeing that here?!?!?! You didn't see all the CRUEL, HEARTLESS things that man posted to the failed bandsters just yesterday?!?!?! You say this doesn't happen on this forum??????????

I can assure you it does happen on a regular basis. You have been on this forum how long?

I have to say it does not happen with the frequency that it did even just a few months back. And in general, the attacks are not as bad as previously, but these things are posted to those that have the failed bands frequenly. It is the reason many bandsters have left the forum, or well not post on the forum.

I can only hope that if you band does fail, that the responses you receive on here are as nice as you claim them to be when it's directed at someone else!

I actually responded to that post and chewed him out.  I also responded to another post that yesterday seemed to be an especially bad day on this forum, probably the worst I've seen since being here on a regular basis.

I also said in that response that failed bandsters deserved a lot of respect for coming here and sharing.  So for the several (failed bandsters) who have asked where they should go, I say, "Don't go anywhere, stay right here."

While I am on here on a regular basis, I do miss days here and there, and I don't read every word of every post.  I skim a lot and don't open every thread.  So, I'm sure I've missed some nasty notes.  I also have not been here that long...I acknowledged that it my note.  It's an overall aura that (IMO) is much more positive here than on the main forum as well as other forums.  If I see someone being nasty to a failed bandster, my first instinct is to run them off this board.  I told that poster to get off of MY board b/c I want this board to be a warm and welcoming one to everyone.  That's not gonna happen perfectly, but my experience here so far has been pretty good.  I can't say that for every forum...especially the main one.  As of right now, I feel that if my band does fail, I would come here right away to work thru it.

Oh I remember that comment to him you made now, lol. I thought that was cute.

Yeah I don't think the guy had even posted on here since like the first of the year...........and then decides it's HIS board?

His wife was banded at the same time. She is MUCH nicer!

Well, as a "newbie" searching for some support , I'm glad I stumbled on your post first!  I am seeking advice. I am still in the decision making stage, not sure what surgery is best for me....I'm going back and fourth between the band and sleeve.  I would probably abandon the entire idea of surgery if I read the posts you are referring to.  I am doing my homework, asking questions,  going through the motions.....but I am terrified with the idea of having half my stomach removed! I need to hear positive stories....I must tell you, I am leaning towards banding (today) .....have an appointment with the nutrionist today...any insight will help me...thanks
