My four year bandiversary (announced with sarcasm and self derision).

I just did the math and I've paid $360 for each pound I have lost, not counting the cost of fills and unfills.

I am so pissed, disappointed, and ready to give up on this whole weight thing all together.

I don't think your understanding her point This year will NOT be the year she turns things around with the band b/c her Lap-Band does NOT work!!! This is the same thing many of us bandsters are going through!

And as far as the "don't give up or give in" part...........what do you expect her to do??? At some point you have to cut your losses! She has already spent a fortune on a band that doesn't work, and if I'm not mistaken, I think she also paid for a repair surgery! It's been FOUR YEARS. If the band hasn't worked by now............IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK! :-(

I do realize that you probably meant your post to be encouraging, but telling those with failed bands to "give it a change" and "get back on the bandwagon"  and "maybe this will be the year for things to turn around" are NOT practical! This poor woman has wasted 4 years and thousands of dollars on a POS that doesn't work, and can now not afford an EFFECTIVE WLS b/c of all the money she wasted on the band. WLS aniversaries should be a joyous time to celebrate and reflect on what the WLS has helped us accomplish and how far we have come. Speaking from my personal experience...........that is NOT how it plays out for MANY of us bandsters, and I am quite sure that her "bandiversary" is NOT a celebration, but more of a day of mourning what should have been (per Allergan's advertisements!).

Maria F, I understood what was said and did not advise Michelle how to turn her weight loss situation around just not give up on losing weight.
Your interpretation of what she meant and what I meant by my response to the post is your interpretation.

 With  I will succeed.

That's true. Sometimes they way we interpret things is not the way the poster intended for them to mean. Coming from a perspective similar to Michelle's, I think the comment about "this might be year for things to turn around" (or something like that) struck a nerve with me since if the band hasn't worked in all these years..............it's not gonna start working now. But it seems that you did post to her not meaning it to sound that way so I appologize.

I hear ya sweetie, we been walking the same road! My 4 yrs is next month but like you certainly nothing to celebrate except that insurance covered mine. It has to be even worse for a self pay. Just don't bad mouth yourself cause you know it wasn't your fault!! There are enough of us here and even docs that say the band is at best a bad joke. When even the surgeons don't want to do them anymore that says something! Hang in there hon, you aren't alone by any means. I've decided to just stay fat and happy for now, that's way easier for me tho cause I'm an old broad so I really don't care what anyone thinks. It would be awesome to have that hot body I had in my early 20's but hey that's not where I am now. So gotta take what I got, it is what it is! Hugs to ya and I hope you'll be able to get that revision before too long.

Hun all I can say is HUGS! :-(

As you  know, I know what your going through. Wish there was something I could do or say to make it better for you, but if I did, I would have have applied that to myself as well! :-(

That being said..........Please post about this on the failed band group! It seems from the responses on here that you have gotten very little support on this day that you need it most from the Lap-Band forum. It seems your post is being ignored even, so please post on the FAILED band group where you will have the support of those that understand and care!!!

Maria, I do not appreciate that you say that only people in the FAILED band group care...I am quite new, so very hopefully I will be luckly with the band, but I can imagine her frustration and I DO care- probably just like many others here. Please respect that even non-failed bandsters care about this. Thank you.

Roll on weight loss!

Evelyn I do certainly hope that you are one of the lucky ones with the band! We all hoped to be in that position when we were banded.

I posted as I did yesterday b/c Michelle only got a 2 or 3 supportive responses, I think it was. Usually when one does an aniversary update on the Lap-Band forumfor the ones that have done well with, or still like their band, there are people coming out of the woodwork to congratulate them and give support. Unfortunately...........this is generally NOT the case with bandsters that are having complications (and they are actually the ones that need the support the Most!).

Michelle WILL get better understanding and more support on the failed band group. That being said..........there are many wonderful, supportive people on the Lap-Band forum as well. So I in no way meant to insinuate that ALL Lap-Band forum members are uncaring! I do though think that a lot of the members here tend to ignore posts like Michelle's b/c they are scared. You know the head in the sand, hear no evil, see no evil type of thing. Like they just don't want to know these things happen..........and then it won't happen to them. I may be wrong, but that is how it appears to me.

But I do believe that you care about her outcome, and I appologize if you felt that I was making a blanket statement about ALL forum members.
