Advice
This one made me laugh a bit. I know what you mean, though. My only thought is that there were so many odd cir****tances with my band that I'm not sure it ever really had the chance to help me. I got the band in late February, and was pregnant by June. Then for 12 months I did nothing with it (pregnancy and delivery). When I tried to get that fill and found out that it had slipped, I ran away never to return until 3 years later. So until now, I hadn't really been ready to really get it together and use this tool to its potential. The doc really believes that because my slip was pregnancy related (tubes tied so it will not be repeated), I should not have another slip issue. However, I have been reading about how amazing the sleeve is. It's just absolutely terrifying to me to remove any portion of my body that isn't riddled with cancer or flesh eating bacteria, though. So at this point I'm leaning toward trying a band without the worry of a pregnancy and an understanding of getting the restriction I need. I will say the band does not allow me to eat mindlessly, and so in that sense, I think it has helped me more than I have given it credit for. Still, there have been issues with discomfort occasionally and some of the other issues that go along with the band. Sounds like the sleeve would really eliminate those things... and that is appealing. Thanks again for responding. I know I have a lot to consider. I'll try to join that facebook board!
As far as the slip, my understanding is that if you have had one, the chance of you having a 2nd one is multiplied quite a bit. I can't remember the exact %, but maybe one of the other bandsters can chime in here?
I would strongly suggest that you read the revision forum and see how many bandsters are revising FROM the band. But if you choose to continue with the band route, I wish you the best of luck!

a slip can be corrected w/a complete unfill & time - did your dr not talk this over with you?
unfortunately - as stated, your now more susceptible to subsequent slips. not always - but it's something to consider.
i read you don't plan to give up & you shouldn't; you should also discuss / research other options - should the band give up on you. it does happen.

Did your Dr. tell you that your band slipped? My Dr. told me that mine had slipped and they removed all of the fluid and everything went back into place. I have considered having a revision to VSG but I was told that I had to have 2 surgeries. Remove the band and wait 3-4 months to have sleeve. I just don't think I can stand going through 2 more surgeries. The sleeve sounds great but if I don't change the way I eat I will just gain the weight back. I know I could consult another surgeon but the one that I have is one of the top in the nation. My son has the realize and is doing well. He has kept 100 pounds off over 2 years. I have seen success and failure with all types of wls. It may be as simple as going in and re-positioning the band you have.
No, my doctor informed me. Luckily there is not an emergency with it. However, now that I know what's happened, I would credit the slipped band for the occasional referred pain I have felt. I thought it was heartburn. There have been isolated incidents of reflux as well. Probably has something to do with the slip. Good luck to you in deciding what you will do. 2 surgeries doesn't sound pleasant, so I can imagine your conflict. Congratulations to your son, as well. It would feel amazing if I could one day say the same!
Glad to hear that you aren't in an emergency situation. I have decided to give my band another chance. I'm going to order the "Bandwagon" book and get back on track. I just can't stand the thought of having to go through the liquid stages for weeks again. I lost 121#'s and have gained about 50 back but have maintained the rest for over 2 years.
