Question about weekend eating....

So I am getting SOOO very frustrated with myself! I bust my booty all week long eating right (95% of the time) and working out Monday through Friday. Well, when I get to the weekend I am tired and just want to relax and not have to stress out about what to eat or what to cook or working out. I always always always blow it on the weekends. I eat whatever I want....This is usually what happens....Friday afternoon I meet the fiancee for our weekly lunch, and then that night we head out for "pizza night", the pizza is made with low fat everything and 100% whole wheat crust and it is thin crust and I usually end up eating one or two pieces of the pizza. THEN on Saturday morning me and my son meet my mom for pancakes (i usually order a small omelette) it's the only time I get to see my mom so this is our catching up time. And the rest of the weekend is spent eating whatever I want to.

So I guess what I am trying to get at is what do you guys suggest for quick, easy and fun meals for the weekend to get a "break" from worrying about what to eat and what not. I don't want to cook on the weekends, I want to spend time with my family and enjoy my weekend, not cooking and cleaning up a big mess afterwards. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

Weekends can be tough.  If I don't plan them like I do during the week then I will go off the rails every time!

I eat out a lot on the weekends, especially breakfast.  My trick for eating in restaurants is to never look at the menu.  I always know before I go what I'm going to get.  If it's breakfast I always order 2 poached eggs and a side of crisp bacon to share with my DH.  The bacon is my splurge!  No toast, no potatoes.  Sometimes I'll have an omelet.  I always ask for 1/2 of the normal amount of cheese and load up with veggies and no meat and then I eat half of it.

If you're like me, socializing with food is a huge tradition in my family.  I try to remember that going out to eat is about the company, not the food.  If I look at a menu I will 9 out of 10 times get distracted and order something I shouldn't eat.  There are just too many temptations.

When it comes to pizza, (my husbands favorite), I order mine without meat and choose veggies instead and then I eat the toppings and not the crust.  1-2 pieces and I'm done.  I try to cut carbs where I can and am usually glad I did because my band doesn't like bread much anyway.  It's not exactly low cal but it's better than the other choices I would have made before.

The reality is that we have to plan more that thin people because our minds have a different idea about what our bodies need than reality when it comes to food.

Focus on the tastes that you crave and figure out ways to get the taste without all of the extra calories.  It is possible to dine out and still enjoy the total experience!

Best~

Thank you! I love love love pizza, but unfortunately my band lets me eat the crust and that's my favorite lol but I guess that this pizza place I go to uses whole wheat so that's good lol but with the omellete I will have to try asking for just the omelette and to cut the cheese and get veggies with it, I usually get sausage and also to ask for no hashbrowns because that is my weakness (yummy)

I will keep all that in mind this weekend when we are dining out =) thanks again!!

I don't see where you are messing up.  You are eating two slices of "healthy" pizza and an omlette.  That's messing up???  That's my normal eating.  I make myself a pizza too out od tortillas.  I have eggs all of the time with cheese and sausage.  I eat this food weekly and I lost 150 lbs.  I don't see the point of being super strict.  Eat food that is filling and don't go crazy with the carbs.

I was thinking you were going to say cookies, ice cream and fries.  This isn't cheating.

I'm sorry I guess I didn't put that part in there, I tend to graze a lot when I am home on the weekends and sometimes I do eat McDonalds or something and when I go to McDonalds I never get "healthy" stuff. We don't have a lot of restaurants around here so choices are fairly limited and I eat more "junk" during the weekend.

I would say if your selection of eating out is limited then only eat out 1-2 times a month.  I honestly almost never eat fast food anymore.  It just tempts me to eat badly and I notice the more I eat of the bad stuff the more I crave it.  So I try to limit my bad food to one treat day a month.  Then if I feel tempted I just have to tell myself just wait till treat day.  That usually works for me.  On treat day though...I eat cookies if I want.  I eat chips if I want.  All within reason but I eat what I want with no guilt because I only do it once a month.  Last month I had cheesecake.  A nice big piece too.  I also had fries.  It was all really yummy.  This month's treat day I think I will eat some ice cream before it gets too cold...I will make a sundae!!!

This system works for me.  Some would find it too strict.  But I think it's perfect, it allows me to have my goodies but not all of the time.

I also do not like to cook much on the week ends. I buy a Deli Rotisserie chicken and divide it into 3oz. baggies. Its really easy to make a wrap with it, add it to a salad or whatever. I actually have my DH hooked on having it in an omelet on Sunday mornings. Its really good. If I just want to graze I pull out a bag of my chicken.
