Okay everyone, I think I have an absessed tooth.  I have never felt so much pain in my life.  Its horrible and of course offices are closed Monday.  The issue/question is I have 2 eat Advil like damn candy, and Im terrified I will hurt my band.  I have tried everything from whiskey to vanilla extract to tea bags to cold/warm things.  Its 2am and I'm wake to due this damn pain.  I have pain meds left from my surgery but I'm terrified to take them because of vomiting.  I don't care if Monday is a holiday or not, that dentist better do something for me tomorrow or my butt is off to the ER.  No way I can do this again for another night or day......I wish someone would just punch me in the face and knock my tooth out, I'm sure it would feel better!!  OMG, its horrible...

Any suggestions would be very much welcome!!

Thanks!

try the ER.. I know that the ER in military instillations have a dentist on call. It can't hurt. If anything they can give you some anti-nausea meds so you can take the pain pills. Plus your dentist should have someone on call for emergencies. If not, try the ER like said. I know the kind of pain you're in. Dental pain is the worst :P

Good Luck!

oh yeah.. take the painpills with a protein rich snack/meal. I don't have any vomiting then. I used to eat a pb sandwich, but sadly cannot eat bread anymore.

Bad luck Jamie. I have heard that clove oil or cloves help the abscess. Try keeping a clove on the sore patch, or rubbing clove oil on a cotton ball and holding that on the tooth area.

In Australia we have baby teething gels that might help you if you have the same up there.

I'm sure you've resolved the situation by now, but I have to tell you about what my dentist recommended to me. He said to soak the tooth in Listerine for as long as you can take. Listerine soaks through the gum and helps kill the infection. I have used it and others have too. It REALLY helps! It is quite difficult to do, but you have to hold the listerine in your mouth for about 5 or more minutes. It's really tough to do, but you can do it. Do it often too!!
I have used it with several tooth aches and an abcess. One of our secretaries had a huge absesss that had half her face swollen, but the listerine helped in two days (she still went on antibiotics, and had treatment).
DON'T skip real treatment, but Listerine can get you through a tough couple days.
Hope you are feeling better!!
