I am 3 weeks post and things have been going great. Getting in all my protein in and eating small amounts. Havnt had any any nausea or vomiting and am feeling all around good. My issue is, starting yesterday, I am getting a sever sharp pain on my left side below my ribs. The pain is not where the port is located. Sometime is it extremely painful and sometimes just a dull ache. I thought maybe I was eating too much, but today it started after drinking my protein drink. I work in healthcare, so of course my mind is all over the place. Im worried the band slipped, something has happened to my stomach or worse. Is this pain normal or should i be really concerned? I had an upper gi done the day after surgery and everything looked great and last week I had a spiral ct and everything still looks great. Is this pain normal? Am I doing something wrong? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

From what I understand, have read, and have been through, some small healing pangs are to be expected.  But extreme pain means CALL YOUR WLS SURGEON. My docs office says anything between the mouth and belly button is theirs.  I am almost 8 months out and have had no pain outside gas after surgery.

Is your port on the left side? If it is - the pain is likely the muscle just healing from the surgery. It doesn't have to be right where the port is, but in that general area. I had the same thing - an occasional sharp pain and some dull sches. It went away after about 5 weeks. If your port is not on the left side or the pain is really severe, then go and get it checked out.
