medication and weight gain

 I am 6yrs out from surgery. I lost 65lbs in 2 yrs. I kept it off for 2yrs. For the past 2yrs I have gained most of my weight back. I am not sure what happened. The only thing that I have changed in those 2yrs is the medication I take.  I am wondering if Lexapro, flexaril, tramadol and ambien could cause weight gain. I have fibromyalgia. I work a 40 hr week and I live alone. I have all the house work to do, yardwork, cooking and taking care of my precious little baby who is a dog. I am not a lazzy person, which means I deal with a lot of pain. The flexaril and tramadol are for the pain. The ambien is for the insomnia from the Fibro and the Lexapro is for the panic attacts and depression that are also from the Fibro.

Is anyone else dealing with this??  Any one no if meds can cause weight gain??

I would be very grateful for any help anyone can give me.

They absolutely can! The anti depressants are notorius for weight gain. I would suggest you talk to your pharmacist and see which ones could be causing the problem, often you can switch to a drug that doesn't cause the problem. There is also a fibro forum here and we'd love to have you join us! I find many of us with weight issues also have fibro so come join the gang!

I'm 9 mos.post band and take pain meds, thyroid neds. blood pressure. and others and can't excercise due to 23 rods and screws and fused spine. I also have recently within 8 mos. flat feet and other stuff going on. and I would like to blame not losing weight on meds, but the truth is I got the band put in to take off weight and by eating small amts. of food and right stuff seems to be the answer. My advice to you is try to go back to basics and start over like you just got banded and get a fill. II also live by myself and that causes long empty hours and makes you want to eat.  Try eating small protein snacks instead like cheese sticks, hard eggs if you can. Also, I know when you have severe pain and can't sleep thats no joke. I symptodise with you and pray you get some kind of comfort. good luck....

 i don't know if this would work with your other meds but wellbutrin often helps to lose weight. it is an antidepressant sometimes used to stop smoking. best of luck to u
