My last fill was in November 2010 - 9 months ago. I've lost about 10 lbs since then and am in no need of another fill.

Earlier on, when I was losing weight more quickly, it seemed like I needed another fill after every 10 pounds of weight loss. As you lose weight, the fat surrounding your stomach shrinks, so your band "feels" looser and you need more fill.

I know this doesn't directly answer your question about how long a fill lasts, but everyone loses weight at a different rate. I lost weight at wildly varying rates - sometimes 2 lbs/week, sometimes .5 lb/week, sometimes 0, sometimes a gain...

I was told a tweak every year is all I will need.  Oh and if you lose 30-40 lbs you will need a tweak because you lose fat around your organs (like your stomach) and it will make your band looser.  I went in last September, then January (because I lost 60 lbs since September).

While I was losing weight, my fills lasted about 15 pounds (at first that was about every 3 weeks, and then it took 4 - 5 weeks to lose 15 ---- then it took 6 - 8 weeks, etc)

About every time I lost a pants size, I needed a fill --- sort of like tightening the belt!
I am down about 8 sizes and probably had about 8 fills over the 18 months I was losing.

It depends on your anatomy. The band is placed round stomach but over the fat adhering to the stomach wall. So it is the speed with which that fat decreases that governs the need for fills. So there is no norm!

With me, i needed a fill every 15 or so pounds lost. I haven't needed one for years now.
