Bad news for the Lap BAnd?
If I could go back and choose something else besides the band, I would. When the band has worked for me, it does work - or - to be more exact - I work better at my weight loss when I'm on the band. I can make better choices about my eating because I'm not constantly hungry.
BUT - I've had problems with it - I have had it for four years now and it has not been working for me for most of that time - I've had three surgeries since the band was inititally put in - AND - I'm on my second band because the first one was constricting my stomach and was replaced during the last surgery. I would be willing to bet that this one will have to come out at some point in the future. Why do I still have a band? Because I paid for it and I'm not willing to give up on it completely - not just yet. When it works it keeps me from binging and I'm positive that without it I woud be considerably heavier than I already am. My eating would be out of control without the band. - or - some kind of weight loss surgery.
So, would I get the band again? NO - but I would still have some kind of WLS.
