CAN I GET MY LAP BAND PUT BACK IN - AGAIN?!

Something's not right here.  The original post seems very fishy to me.  The story doesn't add up, and I can't believe someone of reasonable intelligence would want another band after an erosion.

It does seem strange, doesn't it? But a lot of people don't seem to have researched a whole lot before committing themselves to a life altering procedure, either.

I'm always surprised at how many people have absolutely NO clue about human anatomy. The questions, "I had surgery last week and I have a pain in my left side. What could it be?!" blow me away.   I would think that before having surgery, a person would crack open a book, Google or something. It doesn't take much research to see that your stomach lies under the left ribcage area. And a port is under the skin, nowhere near the actual stomach. And the stomach is made of living tissue, prone to damage from a foreign object more than, say, a tooth or even a knee cap.

To the previous post, perhaps we shouldnt be so judgmental. I am a healthcare professional, 3 weeks post op, and having severe pain on the left side under my ribcage, and I posted a question about it. I simply wanted to know if this pain is normal after this surgery or if I should be concerned. We are all at different stages of this and we are all going through multiple emotions. Maybe instead of being so rude about peoples questions, we should be open, understanding and give decent feedback. Do i think this person should have another lap band? Absolutely not, perhaps look for different methods, but im not going to be rude about answering it.
I didn't see Nicci be rude or judgmental to the OP at all. She just happened to have given an example of a post that you, yourself, admit to have posted, so I see a knee jerk reaction on your part. I get the emotions, but really, this is the internet. . .lighten up and take a step back before you jump on someone you see as judgmental. . .perhaps others may see you as being judgmental.

Query re post-op pain = just fine, normal, expected, not insane

Seriously suggesting that someone should have surgery to replace something that was removed because it wore a HOLE in the questioner's stomach = INTENSELY not bright

NM is NOT judgemental.  I also didn't take her response as rude...simply factual.

She is one of the sweetest,  kindest,  funniest, talented , CARING people you could ever hope to meet.

She had a HORRIBLE,  life threatening experience with a lap band.  ( mine was not  life threatening when I had it removed but had I not,  it would have become so).

She chooses to tell people about her experience because she has first hand knowledge of the dangers a lap band can cause.  She is never rude or disrespectful..she is trying to HELP....and she takes a lot of abuse because of it.

Some people just choose to bury their heads in the sand and not see what is right in front of them.

Oh Susan, You're so sweet!
My whole life has changed!  I am still working as a NICU RN and right now, I am finishing my 7 night stretch!  I could have never worked more than 3 nights in a row while I was so obese!  Now I work my shifts together and then take 8 days off - fly to CA to see my new BF and love every minute of it!  Life is sweet now!

How are you?  I remember you fondly!

Kaylabugg,

Notice the date I posted. It was in no way a reference to your thread. Well, unless I have some sort of prescient power and I'm not aware of having that.
