hate the slidder foods..vet needs help..

I'm so sorry you are under so much stress.  As much as I love cereal, it does not stay with me, even those with added protein.  My cousin eats oatmeal for breakfasat and it stays with her till lunchtime.  For me, maybe 1 1/2 hour.  Protein (eggs and turkey bacon)  stays with me much longer.  And I agree about things I just can't have in the house.  I give stuff to my husband and tell him to hide it. Try not to stress over the things you have no control over. I know, easy for me to say.  Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start over.  YOU can do this!

I found a LOT of helpful info in this thread.  Thanx, all, for sharing!  

Now I have a dumb question...or maybe it's just a newbie question.  Could someone define "slider" foods for me?

A slider food is something that just goes right on through the band.  And it can be different from person to person.  For me Peanut butter and Nutella are an example of a tempting slider food for me lately.  I was doing okay with it around, but decided I'm not buying anymore for awhile. 

Ice cream would be a slider, a shake, some say yogurt is, but I eat a Greek yogurt every morning.   Cookies, chips could be a slider.  Meat is not a slider. Veggetables are not a slider.  Most fruit is not a slider, but applesauce etc would be.

Thanx!  That's what I thought it was, but I think the chips and cookies threw me a little as I wouldn't have thought that those would go right through the band.  But since those are weaknesses of mine, they're bound to be sliders for me!    Thanx for clarifying for me!

You clean when your stressed??? Lucky! You now have an open invitation to come to my house whenever your stressed! :-)

But on a serious note. So sorry to hear about your dog and all the other problems  your facing now!!! You know the expression........."when it rains it poors".

I recently re-gained 5 pounds also. Bad foor choices. :-( I was doing something I don't usually do...........bringing it in the house. What helps me is keeping the not so healthy foods out of the house so I won't be tempted, but I wanted it so I got it. The result: 5 pounds. No longer in the house and I'm back to my healthier eating, and now have the 5 pounds gone.

No  butt kicking, yelling or screaming, lol. The key is to recognize what you did wrong and correct it. Your doing that. You'll be fine. ;-)

Don't kick yourself when your down! Take it easy and remember tomorrow is a new day. I just ate some Ben and Jerry's Frozen Yogurt so I know the evil Slider Foods.

Cereal tends to be a slider for me.. IF I eat it with milk.   What I do is add the Kashi Go Lean (the one with high protein) to my greek yogurt, 1/4 cup berries and 1/2 scoop of protein powder.  Just started adding the protein powder to the mix as the yogurt/berries/cereal wasn't holding me long enough.  The powder makes a difference.

I get the stress.. I went through huge stress in 07, but wasn't banded yet.  I can only imagine fighting the stress plus dealing with the band.

Psychologist reminded us at support group last month "Food is fuel.  Food is not your friend."  Glad all the junk is out of the house.  A lockbox is an excellent idea.  I suggested a mini-freezer with a lock to my sister who fights the ice cream demon.  Her husband and daughter can leave IC in the freezer and have self-discipline.. my sister, not so much.  I don't know if she got the freezer.. will have to ask.

 Puffed cheese doodles were my nemisis this week.
And i missed the gym cause of Irene. 
The gym is calling mw romorrow as is the lean proteins.
Good luck we all do it now we know what we have to do.
Tomorrowis a new day thank G-d.

I think everybody goes through this if not once several , several times on their journey .

I have been struggling big time since the last the week of July for some reason and I am  having a heck of a time getting back on track for some reason.

I got really upset about my weight not coming off , doing what I am suppose to be doing, and nothing shows on the scales and I got depressed  .

I have all the good foods around the house also and I'm not eating them like I should be. Heck the last couple of weeks I have been snacking all the time and that is so not me at all. I'm not a snacker at all I never was so I dont know what my problem is right now *sigh*.

We will get through this . Tomorrow is a brand new week so going to get up and take one day at at a time and get back to my exercising again which I have slacked on big time. I have been making excuses not to be going .
