Freaking out, KUB?

For those of you who have been following...
Finally got an appt to see doctor.  He said I have to get KUB Xray before Friday when I see him.

Have you heard of this?  Why wouldn't he want an EGD?

So my doc is so busy I am triple booked to see him cause he's in the office one half day a week.  what if I have to have my band removed?  I'll need to make a decision fast with him.  All he does is Band, RNY, and Fobi.  If I have to revise I'd rather a sleeve.  What do I do?  What can I do?  I feel panicked and not sure what to think.

I had major reflux last night along with gas in my pouch, thought I was gonna puke or have my stomach explode.  This can't be good.

Need prayers or good information, or whatever you got.

Thanks girls!

A KUB Xray would show if you have a blockage in your intestines.  That is what I had when the band caused my stomach to twist into a Figure 8. It causes bloating (severe) and nausea.

It will also show if you have injury to your abdominal tissue, gallstones, or any other abnormalities with your stomach.

I was diagnosed using a fluoroscopy Xray, but my situation was pretty bad and fairly obvious, so maybe that is why a KUB wasn't required. I'm thinking your doctor wants to err on the side of caution.  When you're having the symptoms you're having, something is obviously amiss, so I would think this Xray would show the most.  The good thing is that it's painless, anyway.

As far as I can tell,  a KUB x-ray isn't a lot different from an upper GI. Here's more info:

As for why your surgeon wouldn't do an EGD, I suspect that he, like most doctors, always performs the most conservative, least invasive, least risky procedure or test first before going on to heavier duty (and more expensive and time-consuming) ones.

good luck!

A KUB is simply a plain ol xray of the Abdomen area...it includes everything from the top of the kidneys to the bottom of the bladder...it stands for Kidneys, Ureters and Bladder. It honestly doesn't visualize your stomach that well...hopefully the tech who does your xray will make certain that they include high enough to show the entire stomach...maybe mention to them when your doing it that you're having it to evaluate your band. You won't drink anything or have any type of contrast. Just lay down and they take a picture. I hope all works out...Keep us updated!
