It has been 2 weeks post-op and I havn't lost any weight. I've been following most of the liquid diet and just started going to the gym daily recently. How fast are these pounds suppossed to shed? Does this mean I need more fluid gel inserted?

Try to be patient and just focus on following the food plan to the letter.  I didn't shed much before week three ---each person is different.  I really suggest only weighing once a week so your body and exercise schedule have a chance to kick in.  Keep on doing the right things each day and you will absolutely see results.  Welcome to banderland!

Be careful with your gym work.  My doc said walking only for 6 weeks, then I got to go back to Curves and slowly worked into Zumba once, then twice and for a while 4-6 times a week.  Remember Lap Band is one of the slowest WLS, and I'm slower than most, but steadily going down, so I'm OK with it.

Please be patient. This is the time for healing, not worrying about loss. The vast majority of docs will not give you a fill untill at least a month post-op although some of the larger bands have a little put in during surgery.

Has your doc given the go ahead for the gym? Most say no exercises other than walking for the first month.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Didn't you come across while doing your pre-op research that weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds each week ?

I would not be going to the gym just two weeks post op !!! Dont you realize you could do damage to your port or your band by doing workouts this early after post op ?

You should not even consider doing any type of gym workouts still six weeks post op .  Your band is still getting settled around your stomach and your port is stitched into your stomach muscles .

And like Pumpkin said the band you only lose 1- 2 pounds per week ,

I just dont understand did your doctor not tell you any of these things after you had your surgery or better yet before you had your surgery ?

For the safety of your band I would be cutting out the exercise for at least 6 weeks post op, you are taking a big risk of something happening to your band !!

I dont mean to sound rude or mean but it totally blows my mind that doctors dont tell the patients on what they are suppose to do afterwards.

No, I totally agree with you. I had so many questions after the surgery which was partly my fault. I thought everything would be very simple as I have never had surgery or anything like this before. I would put most of the fault on myself for not getting the info I need although contacting someone with answers is not easy and my questions were not taken very seriously. I have not been "working out" just going on a treadmill for an hour, SLOWLY walking around 2 mph. Is that too much? I'll skip out on the gym until I ask. I have an apt. tmrw so hopefully things with this lap band will change.

If all you are doing at the gym is walking on the treadmill.. go for it.  But please don't venture into anything else w/o an ok from your surgeon.

How long did all your weight loss take? Your weight tracker is very impressive and motivating. Congrats on all that weight loss! Any tips?

You are only 2 weeks out?  Wow!  You are still healing.  Weight loss will come in time, but this is pretty early to be expecting fast weight loss.  The band is the slowest of all WLS and you have to work it - yourself since there is no malabsorption.  Did your doctor put any fluid in your band?  Most don't.

Also, I wouldn't suggest working out for atleast 6 weeks.  Walking at a leisurely pace is the most you should be doing at this point.

Be patient. You didn't put the weight on in a short time, (I'm assuming) it won't be lost in a short time.  1-2 pounds a week is good and very normal.  Not much faster than that.
