Hello friends...

Im having some concerns with my lap band...Recently Ive been experiencing like a pulling or straining in my band....Like if I lay on my stomach when I sleep I have to be super careful when turning over because I feel that strain there...Or even just laying on my left side too long will prompt a cramp there or something...Even when I cough or sneeze hard...Is this something I should be concerned about?? Or is this somewhat normal?? Thanks in advance....

I can feel my tubing rubbing inside, the doctor said this is normal and some people notice it more than others.  Not sure if this is what you are feeling.  It doesn't hurt me, I am just more aware of the band.  As long as it doesn't hurt, I don't think there are any concerns, but if you are worried about it at your next visit ask the doctor.

I've always had a pulling/stretching feeling at my mid back, slightly to the right.  Not associated with any activity.  Comes and goes.  Doesn't hurt.  Surgeon has no idea what it is.

You could call one of the nurses at your doctor's office, explain the symptoms you're having and see if they think you need to come in right away or to wait for your next appt.

i kinda get those same feelings on and off. I definitely can feel the port but that's normal since it is right there under the abdominal wall......I don't feel pain, just slight pulling. I never called the doc about it because it does not hurt....

I had it too and I don't know what the hell it was. I do know that you shouldn't consider it normal and that you should seek medical attention for it. My 2nd band had slipped and eroded, I don't know if those sensations had anything to do with the slip or erosion, but if I were you I would ask your doctor to start doing dome diagnostic testing on the band, port, and tubing.

should you be concerned?   maybe
is it normal?  i don't think it is

have it checked out - you can't guess what's going on inside, but your dr can help figure this out with a few tests.    better be safe then sorry.

Your port is usually stitched to a muscle nearby so that may be what you are feeling but it can't hurt to check with the doc.

Holy cow I have the same issue.  you know when you work out too hard and you have that lactic acid pain-that's what i feel at times under my left rib area.  Or if I am sitting and stretch out to far, lying down on left side and rolling over, etc...I asked my dr everytime I went in for a fill-she said it could be my healing process(surgery 3 months ago) and the scar tissue building up around the band. Only time to worry about it is if the pain doesn't go away and if its associated with a fever-then she said to worry.  Gee thanks!!! She also said sometimes after drinking or eating your pouch can expand a bit and it feels like the band is rubbing on the wall of the muscle and that could be it as well.  I don't have the issue all the time-only during certain movements and sometimes when I'm lying on my left side-which is most of the time.  I thought is was a hernia-LOL!!!  But she felt the abdomen area and said all is well.  Good luck!!!
