Are you ready for social hour?
A long, long time ago…I can still remember how that music made me smile…
Oh, wait, those are the lyrics to American Pie. Let me start over again.
A long, long time ago, when I was a new(ish) bandster, I used to post a Friday Night Social Hour thread every Friday, with a list of sometimes silly and sometimes serious questions for members to answer, so that we could get to know each other better without the high drama that can attend many of our band forum posts. I was self-employed at the time, but eventually I had to get a real job (in retail) with an unpredictable work schedule and had to abandon the Friday Night Social Hour thread.
This week my work schedule happens to be light (while we recover from Back To School Shopping Madness). It’s Tuesday afternoon, all 9 of my dogs are in a post-prandial coma, and I’m feeling social. So here are 10 questions for you to answer if you’d like, with my own answers for your entertainment.
1. What color shirt/top are you wearing? Black & white plaid
2. What was the last thing you ate? A Morningstar Italian Herb Chik Pattie with guacamole, tomato, & cucumber
3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them (briefly). We have 9 dogs and 3 cats (plus one who is sadly MIA). Two of the dogs are small: Georgie (French bulldog), Polly (pug), 6 are large mutt rescue dogs (Patch, Jinx, Berry, Teddy, Meg, Lucy) and 1 is a smallish rescue mutt (Babe). The cats (also rescued) are Smokey, Possum, Licorice, and (MIA) Spice. The dogs come indoors, the cats stay outdoors. ‘Nuff said.
4. What did you watch on TV last? I rarely watch TV, but during my vacation in Seattle last month, Lisa O. introduced me to cooking contest shows like “Chopped."
5. What is your special talent (don’t be modest, now!)? communication (especially written)
6. Who was the last person you talked to on the telephone? An extraordinarily perky and patient tech support guy at my e-mail marketing service.
7. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? turquoise
8. What’s your least favorite thing about yourself? Yesterday it was my candle-wax thighs. Today, it’s my irresponsible hair. Tomorrow…who knows?
9. What book or magazine are you reading now? Ruth Rendell’s Inspector Wexford mystery, The Monster in the Box
10. What’s your most favorite thing about yourself? My sense of humor (I’m my own best audience).
OK, have at it! I look forward to reading your responses!
Jean
