Hey just wanted to let you know that I understand how you feel about going to see your dorctor. I have been banded for a year and have lost only 40 pounds. I wasnt really sure what I was getting into when I got my surgery I didnt know how much work it was going to take, and I didnt really know exactly what I was suppose to be doing. I found this site and started talking to some people and now im also ready to start over and get a fill and do it the right way with the support of others. But I too am a little embarrassed to make the appointment with my Dr. I havent seen him in over 6 months and I just feel like he is going to be a little dissapointed that I have only lost 40 in a year. BUT i am going I am making my appt tomorrow! add me as a friend we can start over together and help each other out :)

I got banded 6/11/07, the first 3 years I lost and gained 40 lbs, without excercising, last year I had surgery so I had all the fluid removed,8/11/10 I decided to get back on track without any fills and with excercise,I started with 30 min of walking ( I have osteoarthritis) I've lost about 70+ lbs ,but my athritis has gotten alot worse,I'm in the middle of moving my stuff into a storage and still cant find an apartment, going through major depression & anxiety and cant find a dr. who excepts my insurance or excepting new patients,I've gained back about 12 lbs in 2 months, I went from excercising 5 days a week 3-4 hrs a day to excercising 2-3 days a week 1-2 hrs and dieting. I know its hard especially if we are emotional eaters,I tend to eat everything in sight when I'm depressed, but feel disgusted afterwards and I'm stuck on the treadmill ,I've been feeling the same way,but I have the most awsome dr,I got a fill last month and for some reason 2 weeks ago I could'nt keep anything down not even fluids for 2 days, my dr was'nt in so another had to see me he completely removed all the fluids again, and I cant afford to pay for a fill anytime soon, so I'm back to dieting again,it is soo hard but I think of gaining all the weight back and that always scares me back on track for alittle while..... I hope everything goes well for you,and I'm so sorry about your dad..but you can do this, another thing that pushes me back on track is looking at all the before and after pictures on here..good luck on your journey!! I don't want to go all "Scarlett O'Hara" on you but, yes, tomorrow is another day. You can start over any time.

You're not a failure, even though you may feel like one. STOP THAT RIGHT NOW.  I mean it. RIGHT NOW.

As for your doctor, do NOT take any **** form him. NONE. If he so much as gives you a LOOK of disapproval, remind him (cordially or not) that you have already given yourself enough emotion torture and that you do NOT need any more from him. His job is to help you get back on track and to SUPPORT you. That's what he gets paid for, not to berate you, belittle you, be disappointed in you or to, in any way, make your feel worse than you are already feeling.

If he gives you any **** feel free to tell him that the infamous Bette will get on a plane, fly down there and put her size 11 foot in his ass.

In the meantime, remember that being unkind to YOURSELF never got you anywhere prior to your surgery and it is no friend to you now, either. Allow yourself to catch your breath from the huge snowball of **** that's happened to you, refocus, and get back on the horse.

OH! And before I forget . . . here's a pair of big-girl panties for you.

Banded 10 years & maintaining my weight loss!! Any questions, message me.

You haven't failed, you just haven't succeded yet! That's what my hubby always told me when I was trying to quit smoking. Today I'm 20 + years smoke free but it took me years to get there. So keep on keeping on, you will get there!

I regained 25 lbs during a tough period in my life (lost my job, had some band complications, started a new job, lost my mother and mother-in-law, and had some legal & other problems with my pyschotic brother). I can't say that the regain was a sign of failure. It was a sign that I was using food for comfort and stress relief, just as I have for 50+ years. I'm a human, you're a human, and at times we have to struggle just to get from one minute to the next.

Please stop envisioning a look of disbelief and disgust in your doctor's eyes when he sees you on 9-7-11. You don't want that to become a self-fulfilling prophecy,do you? You're not the first person who ever regained weight and you wouldn't have needed WLS if you didn't have an eating problem. If your doctor treats you with disbelief and disgust over this, you need another doctor.
