lose over 200 pounds
has anyone here had the lapband and lost over 200 pounds? Have yall heard of lapband ith plication? Anyone had that done and been successful? I havent heard much positive about lapband, especially since I need to lose over 200 pounds. I weigh 363 pounds. I really want the sleeve but I was just wondering what yall would say about lapband. Still not 100% sure which one I want. Please send me messages. Is it possible to lose that much with lapband? Thanks for listening.

There are some that have and hopefully they will respond to you. Recently I heard a surgeon speak at a Q & A and he said plication is still considered experimental and is not favored by most but I guess that's one guys opinion.
I would encourage you to look at all surgeries. While the band has worked great for me, there is a lot of maintenence involved and it is often the slowest of all the WL surgeries. If I had it to do over again and my insurance covered it, I would at least consider the sleeve.
Do your research and pick the best surgery for your personality, eating behaviors, etc.

Priscilla,
I'm not sure why you keep asking this same question. I understand being unsure and worried, but I don't know what else we can tell you that we've not already said.
Yes, you can lose over 200lbs with the band. I did it and so have several others.
If you are still unsure about what WLS to have, you aren't ready. Keep reading and researching. I personally am very pleased with my band and (even if I had known about the sleeve when I was making my choice) am not real keen on having part of my stomach removed.
There's no one perfect WLS. They all have advantages and disadvantages. You have to decide which limitations you can tolerate and work with.
All WLS are tools or aides or helpers. You the patient, still have to make better food choices, you still have to get yourself up and moving, you still have to do the work of weight loss. Surgery, whether band, sleeve, RnY or DS will not do the work for you.
Hope this helps a bit. I don't mean to sound mean or harsh.. I'm just puzzled at you posting basically the same question every few weeks.

as stated by other posts, it is possible and I am one that has also been able to lose well over 200 pounds with the help of my band. No wls is going to do it all on its one. it takes dedication, willpower and had work. be sure you are more than 100% sure which type YOU feel is best for you! best of luck in the decision that you make
I think the bottom line is that as long as you are burning more calories than you are taking in you will loose weight. With any of the wls you will have to do your part. That means changing your diet and excersising. Seems like you still have a little research to do to be sure which surgery is right for you. Good luck!
