Sudden onset of reflux?

Lately had some ass kicking reflux.  Big time.  Couple days in a row, but also have been relying on Gas-X strips usually every other day.  Should I be worried?

My surgeon has told me that if I ever develop reflux to call them right away and discuss it with them.  I encourage you to do the same and not self diagnose why.  And why are you needing gas x strips?

For some reason I am getting gas in my stomach that causes so much pressure that I get referred shoulder pain.  Or just upset stomach, so I take 4 or so of those and I feel better.  Generally it fixes any stomach ailment I may be having, with the exception of this reflux.  I have also been getting random violent hiccups out of nowhere.  Not eating or anything, and just get them.  Sometimes I get them in the morning before I eat anything.

Maybe no big deal, maybe big deal?  Just thought I would get some imput from y'all before I try to contact them.

Thanks!

Hopefully it's just that your band might be too tight and not anything more? It doesn't sound normal though. Keep us updated and good luck!

As for as the referred shoulder pain... this is because you have a foreign object close to your diaphragm and the Vagus nerves.

The reflux could be a sign of a slip, you should get your band completely unfilled until your issues resolve or you just may end up losing your band.

I know I sound like a broken record, but it's because it's true... if you are getting random violent hiccups, your diaphragm IS being irritated.

My diaphragm was damaged so badly that even after band removal, I had bouts of hiccups that would last for hours. AND I had days where I would sneeze to the point of passing out.  You DO NOT want your diaphragm to get irritated to this point, believe me.

There's something wrong. You need to get checked very soon.  I'm sure you already know this... and if they do a CT scan, be aware that it might not show a single thing wrong...even when there is something to be concerned about.

I  agree with Kristi, call your doc and tell him (or her) what you told us.  Don't mess around with reflux.

I had the same problem and I waited too long. I developed ulcers on the esophagus.
Don't wait go to the Dr. Your band is too tight.

You're too tight or might even possibly be a slight slip.

When I went to my doc last he told me any sudden onset of reflux should be considered an emergency with my band, and to not just cover it up with PPI's.

Hope you find an answer soon.

Get it checked as soon as you can.
