Ok so i got banded aug 16th..and today is the 21st..from what ive read i should be gettn back into the swing of things and pain should be minimal. Thats not the case here. I dont have any incision pain, but my surgeon placed my port on top of my rib cage and said normally it goes underneath but my ribs are high because of weight. I went in intially weighing 235lbs and day of surgury i was down to 220. Big yes but not as big as sum people who get this done. My question is has anyone else had their port put on top their rib cage and had issues because of it. I was told there would be some discomfort for couple days but i cant sleep in my bed have to be in recliner sittin mostly uprite and its really swollen and painful. When i try sitting down or standing up or lying flat it feels like the port is being stretched and gonna pop out! its very painful..any suggestions:????

My port was the worst.  I took about 2 1/2 weeks to finally have some pain relief!!!  I slept in the recliner until week 3.  Everyone is different and just believe it gets better!!

I was banded the 15th and had to sleep with 5 pillows stacked up the wall where our guest bed met the wall. I was almost 90 degrees when laying back. More like 60 but yeah it sucked for the first couple nights. Now I am actually sleeping on my side a bit and back. Just make sure you take your pain meds before bed. Also it does sound like a wierd spot for your port. I think mine is in my solar plexus area. Not totally sure though where it is. I think doc will show me in a couple weeks. Good luck to you! Hope you feel better I know how it feels to have to sleep upright.
