burning around esophagus

Has anyone had burning around the esophagus when they eat.  This just started, and I'm not sure if it's band related or not.  I have been banded 8 years, lost 70 pounds, and have since gained some back.  I'm really trying to get on track again so I may be on here more often for support.  Thanks for any help.  Sally

I have had burning only when I had reflux. My doctor just put me on meds in the morning and evening. For dull ache in esophagus he thinks its reflux at night.  I am not to sure but so far it has helped. call your doctor there is no since in having discomfort when eating. hope you get relief soon

As Cheyene says, it may be a sign of relux and needs checking out.

Burning?  It's probably either reflux or you've irritated your esophagus from vomitting or food irritation.  I've had both and they have been cause by my band being too tight.  It's hard to know which comes first.  Does the band suddenly tighten and they you start pbing or getting reflux or both OR, does the band get tight because of irritation from pbing or certain foods and reflux.  I believe it's usually the second scenario.  Personally, when I have that burning feeling it's usually from spciy, acidic foods, coffee, chocolate, etc.  Either way, you should have it checked out.  It's just not worth risking your band.

Both times a slight unfill fixed me right up!

Take care,
Lisa O.
