It sounds like you may be a tad bit too  tight, you, need to call the doctor and ask about having a little taken out. Don't waite too long to call. Have a good day.

Please call and get a slight unfill.   Also sleep with a wedge or a few pillows until you get into the dr.   Choking during sleep can cause damage and or you not being able to wake up if you know what I mean!

I agree with the others.  If you inhale the stomach contents you can get aspiration pneumonia.  That can be very serious.  Call you Dr. now.

This is not normal for a bandster.

What you are describing is reflux.  You need to call your physician and deal with it, either through diet modification, a slight unfill, medication, or any combination of those three things.  Don't let it go untreated as the consequences can be serious.

When I had that experience it was from nighttime reflux due to be too tight.

I agree with the others you need a small unfill, this can be life threatening if not taken care of right away!

Your avatar doesn't say where you are in your WL journey with the band, but what you are experiencing is night coughs from reflux.  Listen to the others...it's dangerous and important that you see your dr. immediately.

Also, make sure you are not eating right before bed, especially while lying down.  Lying on propped up pillows will help a bit but you still need to address the real issue and it sounds like you're too tight.

Take care,

I disagree with the others, I think you need a complete unfill until your problems have completely resolved. Don't be afraid of having no restriction, I'll tell you a little trick I do that helps me to not gain any weight or at least keep any weight gain down to a minimum

I get on the scale every morning. Not to see if I am losing weight, but to make sure I'm not gaining weight. You will experience hunger frequently when you have your band emptied and it's easy to fall off the wagon and start putting on the feedbag. TRUST ME !

Your weight is going to fluctuate whether you're filled or not, so allow yourself to fluctuate no more then five pounds up from where your at now. Get on that scale every morning and when you hit 5 lbs up.....put the brakes on by cutting out the crap and getting out of the house to walk the dog or whatever it is you do for exercise.

OTOH...If you use the " bury your head in the sand technique " and you know you are gaining weight, but you are fearful of stepping on the scale.... by the time you actually step on the scale you may be up 10,15,20 lbs which from past experience ( mine ) will depress you and may cause your regain to spiral out of control with all the emotional eating that a lot of us tend to do when we are depressed about our weight.

It's a hell of a lot easier to lose 5 lbs then it is to lose 10,15,and 20 lbs.

Go to Walmart or GNC and look for a natural hunger suppressant.Use it only when it's time to put the brakes on. Otherwise your body gets used to it and it won't work for very long. Not recommending that you use what I use, but I use Dexatrim Max for those times I need a little extra help in prying off the feedbag. It usually takes me 2-3 days before I can stop taking the Dexatrim and rely on my new found and very helpful willpower and motivation.

One more thing, I keep a picture of my former fat self on the fridge door to scare me away from opening it too often if ya KWIM.

Hope this helps

I made the mistake of not having an unfill after being too tight, and spent 6 days in the emergency room over Christmas until they could get a Doctor to remove 4 cc's.  I had gone so far over the limit and made myself so sick that I needed all of the fluid removed and gained 30 lbs.

Call Emergency or Doctor today.  It took 6 months for me to heal and I am just now getting back on track.

They can give you extra meds for reflux that will settle your stomach and you will get right back on track if you don't wait.  Learn from my mistake.

Your situation may not be as dire as mine, but err on the side of caution and let the Doctor make the decision and not YOU.

Good luck!
