If you feel like you need to have one done and that makes you feel better then I say go for it , age dont matter :o)
Me personally, I dont think I will have one done . I will be very honest I'm to scared to get one done I heard its very painful and I dont deal with pain very well lol and I'm just plain scared .
Hubby said he would gather up the money for one but if I was in my 20's or 30's I would highly highly consider it but not right now I wouldn't .
Why dont you go in for the consult . Usually those are free and if it does cost some money to see him it dont hurt just to talk to him and ask questions . You might walk out of the consult and feel heck yes this is what I want, or the other hand you could walk and say oh no thanks this is not for me.
Go talk to him it never hurts to just listen to him :o)
Good Luck !!!

Well I'm 61 and I would have one tomorrow if i could justify the money! But I am retired, not hard up, but no more regular full pay packets coming in! And I prefer to spend the money on other things like exotic travel.
But I'd love a TT! Go for it!

If you are able to handle the surgery and are sure this is what you want - I say go for it.

I am 53 and am contemplating a TT myself.
I had my arms done along with a breast lift last November and I am very pleased with the results.
I have a consult in November (I am hiking into - and out of --the Grand Canyon in October) to talk with the PS about this.
He uses a technique known as 'Progressive Tension Suturing' which eliminates the need for drains and significantly reduces the healing time.
You should ask about it.
It IS major surgery --- and my one stumbling block now is the thought of having to recover from another surgery ----- I am very active (walking/running about 35 - 50 miles a week) and am not sure that I want to sideline that for the months it could take to recover.
Keep us posted! You are not too old to feel great about yourself, and to do whatever it takes to make that happen!
I'm not 55, but as I have gotten older I have realized that I'm the only person who is in control of my own happiness. I'm doing things for myself and it feels great!!! I had ps and I won't sugar coat it...there is pain involved and like wls, you questioned why you put your body through it in the day or two after wards. However, like wls you know it is well worth it!!! The pain is temp and the benefits are forever!!! Best wishes to you!

I wouldn't purposely have the port removed.. that would prevent any future adjusting of the band.
You probably want to make sure that any surgeon you chose to work with has experience in working with bariatric patients. And a really good plastics doc will consult with your bariatric surgeon before working on you.
