I have had ups and downs with my band. Love and hate days.  I recently had a large unfill because I couldn't stop vomiting ( PBing).  My doc left me with the unfill for several weeks to calm down my band.  Come to find out this whole time I think I was PBing because I was pushing it too far,not because I was " stuck".  I was eating too much and not realizing I was FULL.   It was hard for me personally to go from eating as much as I wanted to now just a 1/2 cup .. I think mentally I was thinking I was going to starve!.

I am still struggling some because I know I am full by the amount I see I ate, but my body isn't giving me a sign ( nose running****il its too late.  So now I have learned to slowwwwwwwwwwwwww down and measure 1/2 cup of food out every few days to keep in check.  I love it.  The weight is starting to melt off, and so are the inches. I had gained back a lot of weight during my unfill but so glad I am heading the right way now.   I actually love this band now.   Well except for today when I fixed my famous fried chicken and could only take 3 bites. haha.  It was worth it.

I got into a mini skirt today that I haven't worn in about 6 years.

I think this may be the hardest thing to master.  To stop BEFORE my band says NO MORE.

lol

and congrats on the skirt!

I am so glad you posted this and I hope everyone on the forum reads it, because the message is so important: Come to find out this whole time I think I was PBing because I was pushing it too far,not because I was " stuck".  I was eating too much and not realizing I was FULL.

This is the reason I recommend weighing/measuring food. My greedy little brain always wants more, more, more, and if my body isn't in the mood to give me any satiety messages (running nose, hiccup, burp, etc.), and if I haven't measured my food, I'm too likely to take that dangerous extra bite.

I also want to say how happy I am for you that you've gotten into the groove with your band. Isn't it wonderful when it's working the way it's supposed to and helping you fit into a mini skirt?!

Hi, I had surgery one week ago.  On Saturday I had to go to the emergency room and the nurse opened the band all the way.  I was so nausiated and throwing up.  They released me that night and now I have a massive pain which crosses my shoulders in the front and down my throat, heartburn, feels like I am swallowing a tennis ball.  DId you have this type of pain?  I have not had anything but clear liquids and I am still hurting.  I am scheduled to go in today at 3:00 to have a checkup and see what's going on.  I am wondering if I made a big mistake as I hurt to bad.

There is a possibility you just had too much swelling?  My surgeon won't even fill your band a TEENIE bit until you're 6 weeks post op, because she wants to make sure all the swelling is gone before they start to fill you up.  Constricting the band and then having your stomach constricted because of swelling = bad things.  :(  I'm sorry to hear your having difficulties and I hope they clear up soon.  Give it a little time...

Did your doctor give you a prescription for nexium?

Also...  If you had a hiatal hernia, did they repair it when they placed your band?  According to my doctor 90% of people who go in for the band, have one...  That might be the cause of the heartburn and the pain in your throat?  Best of luck
