Lap Ban Surgery scheduled for Tuesday

I'm excited and scared about my surgery.  I haven't told anyone except my husband, son, and daugher.  None of my sisters, friends, coworkers, etc. know.  I guess I think this is such a personal decision and I don't want a lot of opinions other than my immediate family who totally support the decision.    As I lose weight, I plan to simply say I'm on a strict diet.  Did anyone else do this?

Congratulations! I know you must be excited! I have told very few people bc I don't want a lot of people attempting to change my mind. It was a hard decision for me to make but once I had made it I prepared myself to go all the way with it. I will probably tell more people once I start losing the weight. Good luck on your surgery -I wish you a quick recovery :)

Thank you Melissa.  You're day will be here soon.  The preop diet hasn't been bad at all.  I done so many diets, that it's just another version of my previous ones.  I've lost 12 lbs, so it's a start.  

Well I told everyone about my WLS. I see no reasone to be ashamed of it! But as far as the strict diet..........u might not be lying there. The band doesn't work for a lot of ppl and the only way they lose weight is by being on a strict diet!

Very few people know about my wls. I didn't want the pressure of expectations of others!

if people asked how I was losing so well, I just told the truth, but not all if it. I just said I was eating less and exercising more!

I have found that band eating for me has meant that I can eat out with people and they never realise I have had wls.

 Originally I didn't want to say anything, but then as people noticed my weight loss I didn't feel like lying about my surgery. I'm proud of it and that I took the needed steps to get approved.....So I'm grateful that I can say happily, "thank you...yes I had a surgical procedure that has helped me with my weight loss efforts."  It's still up to me. This band is only a tool. So I'm working with it....
