Thanks Lisa- it was difficult for me to post because I feel like such a failure, and thank you for pointing out the need for a fill- i keep thinking it must be me and only me who is failing and it is true, I am not giving my band a chance to work with me. I try not to be a stranger, but I honestly feel embarassed because I so want the band and me to work great and I am discouraged these days..I contacted Kate though, bless her, and bless you for your helpful comment! Thank you!!

Hi,
How are you feeling today?  Did you get a fill?  I just wanted to check in to see if your spirits were up.  We all lost so much self esteem because of our obesity and poor self image.  It takes time to overcome the belief that we are failures.  But I'm here to tell you, it does get better and you can change.  One foot in front of the other, one day at a time.  Just start today with a plan to eat a band healthy diet today.  Then tomorrow, the same thing, etc.

I'm not sure what type of foods you eat, but I bet if you can cut out, bread, rice, sweets and pasta you'll start dropping the weight fast!  I know it seems impossible, but you can do it!  And if you absolutely must indulge change over to brown rice, whole wheat pasta, yams or sweet potatoes instead of white and use only SF deserts.  Even that will be a healthy change and you'll get the benefit of more fiber in your diet.

Measure your portions.  You need to start wrapping your brain around what a REAL, healthy portion size is.  Our perception is so distorted that it takes a while to believe that 1/2 cup is enough.  It really is!

Keep me posted and let me know how you're doing.

Best~

Honey!  You need a fill.  Maybe even a few fills... Because if I tried to eat any bread I would be full after one bite.  Call your surgeon and schedule a fill and then give yourself a hug and be nice to yourself. Kate is going to be a great resource for you and keep coming back here, it works. You can do this and you are not failing... you are just getting started!

Evelyn, we ARE all here for the same reason.  The band when filled to each persons indidual needs should work for you.  You are in Bandster Hell.  This is where you have had the surgery, but it hasn't been fine tuned enough yet to be of much help to you.  Sorta like an untuned guitar. It takes practice on your portions and correct eating practice.Because you didnt do it right doesn't mean you won't tomorrow.  Set your mind on some short and long term goals.  Take it a day at a time.  Plan your meals and snacks (if allowed). And don't forget exercise and to drink your water.  You can do this!

Your doing fine.  I am not the best person for advice because I am 8 months out and am only down now about 30 lbs.  But I know why now.

Its a learning experience.  It might take a year or so for you to get use to this band and how its suppose to feel.  I am 8 months out and have had about 4 fills and 2 unfills to finally feel what I am suppose to be feeling.    I am at the point now where I don't think about What I want to eat anymore, but what Can I eat.

don't beat yourself up. I was in the same boat as you a few months ago.  I cried and thought what have I done.  I took me ending up in the ER on 4th of July barely able to drink anything because I was PBing so much to get smart and stop beating myself up.  My nurse had Lapband and we talked for a long time and it took her over 2 years to lose 120 lbs and you would never known she had the surgery.  She told me she lost just 12 lbs in her first year.  !   Its a learning experience and you will get there.   Hang in there .

Failed Lapband December 2010,Revision to RNY 2015.

Thank you :))) I just see so many success stories of people loosing so quickly, I keep thinking "why not me". You are right, I need to learn to live with the band and give it a chance. Thank you :))
