Help!!! I've had a pain in my chest since yesterday morning. Its not reflux or heartburn, it's just a pain in the middle of my chest. I ate a piece of fish yesterday morning and the pain started. I'm going to call my surgeon tomorrow. In the mean time I want to know if any of you have experienced this and what did you do to relieve it. I've tried gasx, walking and hot beverages. I've been on mushies and liquids yesterday and will be doing the same today. PLEASE HELP!!!

P.S. It hurts and throbs worse when I bend down.

Thanks for all of your help!!!

This is so common with the lapband.

It's from the band pressing against the diaphragm. The Vagus nerves get irritated, causing the pain in the chest and the left shoulder.

You see where the top portion of the stomach is in this diagram? The band causes either the stomach or the band itself to press against the diaphragm. It can make it hard to breathe, cause pain and even feel like a heart attack.

Try a heating pad or ho****er bottle under your ribcage and see if it helps at all. You can try stretching and arching your back, as well. Sometimes there can be something lodged in the stoma causing the reaction, too.

Feel better.

Thank you so much. I'm going to try the stretching and het pad. I've never felt this before.

Messaging that spot and taking tylenol seems to help. I'm going to go on liquids for a few days. Thanks for your help.
