Varying restriction level?
I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Over the past 6 months I haven't had an adjustment to my band but I think it's been feeling gradully tighter. Even when I am super careful with my chewing and pace of eating, I often encounter more restriction than is comfortable and have to take over an hour to eat something like a small piece of chicken. This didn't happen all of a sudden and wasn't like this as far as I can remember up until recently except for right around my period. Now it seems more constant (could be the extreme heat and humidity outside too I guess.) Anyway, I am going in for an slight adjustment of the unfill variety next week and that doesn't bother me. I have 5.25 CCs so going down to 5 would probably do the trick but still keep me in the green zone. I don't PB or get stuck very much at all and when I do it's due to an obvious mistake like letting myself get too hungry and then scarfing food down. But it's just become where eating is kind of a chore and I seek out more and more "easy" foods. My sliders are breads, pasta, baked goods, and chips and crackers. While it's most difficult to eat fruit, vegetables, and protein. Arg!!

Its kinda funny because I just posted a post this week basically saying the same thing. I had my surgery pretty much around the same as you and only recently noticed that for no apparent reason my band would be tight out of the blue. I would notice that here and there and mostly in the mornings, but the last few weeks its been more and more. And just like you I havent had a fill in a few months. I only posted because just in case something was wrong someone with more experince could give me some tips. But its funny that you mention that you mentioned that you get so hungry that you end up eating too fast. That is so exactly like me. I dont have any advice but your post really made me take notice because it sounds so like me. Good luck Jennifer
Be very careful with this! This is one of the begining symptoms of band problems, not trying to scare you but please make sure it doesn't get too tight! Mine has done this for the last 2 yrs. to where I finally had it emptied because it was costing me a fortune to keep getting unfills. This seems to start being a problem around year 2 so just keep a very close watch on this!
Thanks for the head's up. I'm getting a small unfill and if it continues to be too tight I'll keep getting it unfilled little by little. (my insurance covers so it's only $30) I can see how without that coverage it would be a real pain to have to pay OOP for multiple small unfills. So what happened in the end? You just have a completely empty band?
At first, my (unbanded) doc told me it was "impossible" for my band to feel tighter at certain times. Now he realizes that almost anything can happen. You're on the track for some issues- it's just too difficult to eat a piece of chicken, so we eat a handful of chips instead. Be very careful- I got completely unfilled for awhile and now I am trying to get a revision... Try the small unfill, but just know that you are following in the path of many of us...
