I was banded on 08-22 and I still have swelling the size of an orange under my largest  incision on my left side. The pain is really bad at times. Is this normal progression?

You were banded on 8-22. Isn't that next week?

Or do you mean 7-22?

Is the swollen area red or hot to touch (signs of infection)? If so, call your surgeon ASAP.

In fact, why don't you go ahead and call your surgeon's office anyway and ask them this question.

My original port incision was uncomfortable but not painful a week or so after surgery. When my port was repositioned, though, that area was massively swollen and painful for several weeks, but it healed well and hasn't caused me any problems since then - except when I overdo it with abdominal exercises or heavy lifting.

It's always best to call, but if that is where your port is, it will take the longest to heal because the port is stitched to the muscle wall and all movement causes it to pull a bit.  My port scar took the longest to heal by far and I could feel twinges for months until it fully healed.

If it is hot to the touch, red or oozing anything you may have an infection which needs to be dealt with imediately.

Don't hesitate to call your Dr.  They're used to it because we all are a little scared and worry post op.

Best~

Call your surgeon. If it's the size of an orange and painful, it's fluid accumulation and they should be made aware of your symptoms.  I have read where a few have experienced that, but it's not to be expected in a "normal progression".
