Pen Pal
Hi, I am looking for a pen-pal in NY. I am having Lap-band surgery next friday and would love to speak with someone who is doing more or less the same. I am going to lose about 100 pounds after the surgery. I am looking forward making new friends who are on the same journey. Maybe we can help each other out. I know I will need help and I would love to be here for someone else in need. Thanks so much! Celeste
Welcome Celeste! And congratulations on your upcoming surgery!
You have hundreds of "pen pals" right here on this forum. Just keep posting questions and let us know how you're doing and you'll have more feedback and information than you'll know what to do with! This is a great group and this forum has helped me immensely through out my journey.
Once you read the various posts you'll find people that you relate to. I encourage you to "friend" those that you click with and read their blogs as well as reaching out to them directly. For instance, I have a lot of things on my blog that you might find helpful, food lists, my routine, plus parts of my story.
You'll hear a lot of differing opinions so just be prepared to do your research, listen, read and then make decisions based on your dr's recommendations your personality type and situation. There is no one surgery that's right for all so keep that in mind when reading negative or scary information posted here. I highly recommend a book called Bandwagon that was written by one of our own members her on OH, Jean M. You can order it by going to her blog site: [email protected]. There is a ton of useful information there for anyone living with a band an it's written by someone who's been there!
Best of luck on your journey,
Lisa O.

Dear Lisa,
Thanks so much for your kind words and inspiration. I know that this journey is not something I can or want to do alone so I really appreciate the advice. I will continue to talk to others on this bog and I think it's wise to "make friends" in a more organic way. I saw the Bandwagon book by Jean and I look forward to reading it , aswell as her newsletter.
Also it is so inspiring to be in contact with people like you who have achieved what I want to.
Peace to you as you continue on your journey,
Thanks for sharing,
Celeste

Along with what Lisa said, you could go to your states forum, go to the top of the page, under forums and find N.Y., usually the state ones have less people on them, but if you are looking for someone near you, it should help. Good luck!

Hi Wendy, I live in Bellport, in Suffolk County on the South Shore. I am having surgury on Friday, with Dr. Ahmad at Mather Hospital
I see you've lost 74 ibs. Congratulations and God Bless You! on your journey. Youi are an inspiration to me. So far I've lost 30 lbs and I'm on the liquid diet with one salad and lean protein. I see how this has gotten me ready for the resricted diet I will have to follow after surgery. It's tough but I know I can do it!
Have a great day!
