Lap Band

Good Afternoon, I have heard from many people getting lap band since it's not a huge sugery and has a good result in weight loss.  I was told that some place in winnipeg does them under manitoba health and is covered.  Does anyone know which place and doctors name? How long is the waiting lists?  I am very interested as I weigh 350 pounds, and just can't take being fat anymore.  I hope someone can help me out with information.  Thank you so much.  Also hearing from people who have had surgery from the place and doctor would be greatfully appreciated.  Thanks

I dont know where you are located. But I am in Florida. I am scheduled to have LapBand surgery August 19, 2011. At Palms of Pasadena Hospital. I too weighed 350 on friday. But as of today I am 342. There are many Criterias that have to be met with any insurance. I had to show proof of diets falling, via Doctors notes. I had to see a dietician, Psychiatrist, and show doctors notes for the last two years. It took about 3 months, but that goodness I did HCG shots last year that counted as 3 visits, in which I had to have 6 total. I have Aetna, they are a awesome insurance company. 
I would suggest you call your insurance and ask all the questions regarding your concerns. Cant go wrong there.
