I am a HUGE Zumba fan so I would give it a shot.  I have found that despite my good intentions the only way I stick with exercise is if I go to a place like a gym.  I think of it as my job, and I actually write it in my calendar like any other appointment.  I say go for it (but see if you can cancel if you really don't find you're using it after a few months).  I suspect though if you start with the Zumba classes and do a few days of the treadmill as well you'll get in a good rhythm and keep going.  Best of luck!

I love zumba too!!! My best friend has been trying to get me to go the classes (at the gym lol) but I have been questioning getting a membership so now if I joing I will be able to go with her! The nice thing about the gym is that you can buy a day pass for $8 or a week pass for $15 or a month pass for $45. So I might just do a week and see if I like it first. Or do a month and see...not sure yet lol. Thank you for your advice!!!

Your friend is her weight in gold! It is so much better with someone. I am still looking, but do not really want to start anything until after surgery. I do not want to go below my 40BMI and 15/20 lbs or so will do it.  Have fun!!

One idea is to make an appointment with yourself. Put the gym date and time on your calendar, then inform family and friends that you will not be available during that time....
That has worked for me.
Good luck.

I totally understnad what you are talking about.  Its supper difficult to stay motivated.  I have had a membership to 24 hour fitness for two years.  I started really strong and then fell off the bandwagon at some point.  I was paying $32 a month for nothing.  About a month ago I decided that I was going to start again... and its been hard.  The trick for me is avoid excuses and talk yourself into it as soon as you wake up.  The first thought I put in my head when I wake up is "its gym day and it will be good."  Positive attitude is the key.  I also have a tracker on my phone "lose it" and it gives me badges and awards for working out.  So dont forget to reward yourself for going.  Get your nails done or something fun.  Good luck!  Its hard but rewarding when the pounds come off.

After you take a few classes you will get to know people there so you will have exercise buddies. I have a trainer 3/wk because I know I wouldn't go otherwise. I continue to struggle in losing weight but I am quite strong now.
