All in good shape.
Had my routine annual barium swallow this morning, supposed to be 5 year one but a few months late.
All is just as it should be. Radiologist said everything fine.
I asked about bands in general and was told that they find a very good success rate with relatively few removals. Meaningless really as no figures or time spans given. But this is the major NHS hospital trust for the Thames Valley region, serving a city and many large towns. No axes to grind as this is the nationalised non- profit making service and they do all 4 of the main wls. And this was the radiologist talking who is a fully qualified doctor and who does most of the fluoroscopy band checks. I was told they have many vets of 5 years plus like me.
So if they are happy with banding as an option, that's very positive!

I also had an UGI this week due to some pain I was having. Everything looked great. Doc thinks it's probably just a little irritation from post nasal drip. It's been getting better day by day.
My doc says he very rarely takes out a band- maybe 2 or 3 a year. I've certainly had alot of success with very little difficulty over the last two years! I'd be hysterical if my band had to come out.

Thanks, Kate, glad you are doing so great. Also good to hear the news. I plan to ask my doc about band removals and complication issues after about 2 years that we've been hearing so much about. Don't know when I'll get the chance, cause though his office has me come in fairly often, I rarely see him. I guess if I had problems I would, so maybe it's a good thing.
