Upper GI CD - What would you do?
today was my first. Looked at the x-ray pics while in the office but that didn't tell me much. No bells or whistles went off when the radiologist took them
and did the fluoro so guess all is well. However I got a CD to take to doctor's office
since that's how they requested the info.
My question - would you try lookn at the CD. Of course I still won't know
if all is well but just curious. Don't think it could hurt, do you?

I took them to my bariatric surgeon today -- and he looked at them, along with the surgical report.
He spent a few minutes going over the results with me -- explaining the implications for my band and giving me his advice.
At this time, we are going to leave my band alone and treat the (silent) reflux I am having with Dexilant ---- and if I feel tight at any time, he will remove a little bit of fluid.
You can look at it -- but don't expect it to mean very much to you without a 'trained eye'.
I hope all is well.
expected to know what I was looking at just wanted to look first. Thanks and I hope all
well too.

I don't think there's any harm in your looking at that CD, but don't count on seeing anything in it that you can recognize or understand!
I got a CD of the images from an upper GI when my band slipped, spent hours studying it, and found only 2 images that made any sense to me. None of that gave me any insight into what was happening inside my body, and the radiologist's report made it clear that he didn't get any insight from it either.
So, go right ahead...but consider looking at those images to be the same as looking at ink-blot images in a psych test...do you see a polar bear in there? And what does a polar bear mean to you? Could it represent the traumatic experience you had in 2nd grade when you got a C on your spelling test? Or could it just mean that your innards were just moving around too much to give a clear picture to everyone outside your body?

However I must say I enjoyed watching the video from my gall bladder surgery
and tried showing it to friends on several occasions. They were not interested.
That video was in color and had sound. I even recognized the cheap chicken (fat)
that I saw.
This...... it was in black and white. I only recognized my band, stomach and my port.
The skeletal system was obvious but everthing else was oh so ghostly.
Thanks for being here and letting me release my nervousness with all of you.
Dr. Horsley *****ad and performed the test after the tech got everything
prepared even looked at my small bowel (took a delayed x-ray after upper GI) since I had a few concerns. Said seems like every went through fine.
On Monday I will have my cd and look forward to their explanation of test and
my lab work. It really feels good to have it over and getting back on track. I did
not budget on self-paying before hand, that is no reflection on the band. No matter the surgery I would still be self-pay now.
M;y band is working with and for me and now I am helping it help me.
Thanks again,
