Melly, you have done a wonderful job!  So glad your numbers scream "healthy."  Of course if you've ever been "overweight," you want it all.  When you get to be my age, the health part wins out.  Hope my numbers this winter continue to improve.  And Zumba is giving this body a bit of a better look...yeah, I really want it all too.

Melly,

That is fantastic  news! When my A1C dropped to 5.9, I wanted to say, "Are you kidding?!"

I'm totally impressed by your ability to run for 30 minutes/2 miles. I was so proud of myself when I could run for 5 minutes on the treadmill!

Keep up the good work!

Jean

LOL Thanks, Sandra!  I have ALWAYS hated to run/jog.  When in school I was almost cry when we had to run in P.E.  So, this is a real victory for me!  Thanks for the support!

That is wonderful news, be proud of yourself. Beging a type1 diabetic for 46yrs I understand all too well how hard it is to lose weight. But to pretty much cure your diabetes is a mircale. You are very beautiful and if you don't lose another pound, be happy you are healthy.

I'm sure you will be able to lose all of it. We just keep doing what we can and please accept yourself for who you are.

Melly,

About the thyroid ...

I've had ha****moto's thyroiditis since I was 12 and have educated myself about thyroid disease.  It is possible to have normal results on a thyroid test and still have symptoms (like weight gain).

  1. Find out your thyroid test results from your doctor's office.
  2. If you can, get a hard copy printout for your own review and home medical files.
  3. If 'normal' or 'reference' ranges are not indicated on the lab results, ask your doctor's office to tell you what these ranges are.
  4. Note the level of your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). At most labs in the U.S., the normal range is from around 0.5 to 5.5. However, as of spring 2003, the AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists) recommends that labs revise the range from .3 to 3.0.
So, if, for instance, your TSH level is higher than three, you might be hypothyroid.

If your doctor ran a test called Free T4, or Free Thyroxine, normal range is approximately 0.7 to 2.0.  If this result is low normal and your TSH is high "normal", then you may want to have your doctor look more closely at that - or seek the advice of an endocrinologist.

Even if you've never had a problem with your thyroid before, it's a problem that is not uncommon in women as we get older.

just a suggestion - hope it helps
