Fast food help and restriction

 Hi everyone,
My last post I was saying how I was feeling really discouraged because I only lost about 35-39 pounds (fluctuations) since february after my last fill I am happy to report that I am finally feeling restriction! I think I want one more fill to get to that fully satisfied feel but for the first time I feel like my band is working WITH me.
Anyways, Can anyone suggest good fast food options you are using that are healthy and agree with the rules. I work in the OR of a hospital and packing lunches and getting a full half hour to eat can be rare at times. Thanks

I think you are doing great to have lost  so much since February! Obviously you are doing something right : )

Two of my favorite fast food lunchs that are band friendly are Wendy's chili and any salad topped with grilled chicken. For some people chili is a slider food and they will be hungry again soon after eating it. For me it's not a slider so it's no problem to have it for lunch. Do you have a cafeteria to get food from?  You could go with tuna or chicken salad too.

I agree with the Wendy's chili suggestion.  That is always my go to usually if I am out and about.  If I go to McDonald's I get the apple dippers and a grilled chicken sandwhich, but do not eat the bun.  Their oatmeal and fruit is also very good.  It is sometimes too tempting for me going to fast food establishments.  The smells make me want something much different!  LOL

Most fast food places have some sort of grilled chicken sandwhich that you can order and then just eat the meat out of it. Beware of salads cause they have alot of cheese, sometimes nuts, and dressing. It can be a lot more calories than you'd think.

The thing about fast food is that, regardless of how healthy it may bill itself as, it's not.  It is loaded with sodium and preservatives.  You would be far better off making a meal out of things like roasted nuts, cheese cubes, deli ham or turkey (LOW SODIUM!!), sliced veggies and greek yogurt.  I know that packing a lunch seems like something that takes a long time but it really doesn't if you do a little prep work.  Spend half an hour one evening chopping veggies and cheese and putting several lunches together at once.  I like to use a square tupperware container and put all my cheese, turkey and veggies in there together and in the morning I just grab one thing (well, two with my yogurt for breakfast) and go.  Then just stick it in a fridge when you get to work and you're good to go!

I know that, calorie-wise, there seem to be plenty of options when it comes to fast food with wraps and grilled sandwiches and things like that and it's true that some fast food chains are making more of an effort.  But the sodium in those meals is going to completely negate whatever benefit the lower calories might offer.  Just something you may want to consider...

It sounds like you are doing a great job with your band and your restriction and that's AWESOME!  Congratulations on your sucess!  Don't sabatoge that with a sodium-laden fast food meal.  I know that's not the answer you were looking for but it had to be said, sorry.

(And as far as snacks go, I'm NEVER without a bag of blanched almods or raw cashews.  Nuts are a FANTASTIC snack because they have protein and the good fats that your body needs.  Nuts are a wonderufl snack for bandsters!!)

Do you have a Hardee's or Carl Jr's near you??  They started making a turkey burger and they will serve it in a low carb lettuce wrap if you ask for that.  I love going there because I feel like I am really eating a burger.  The calorie count with a bun is between 470-490 calories, so I am guessing that without the bun you probably wind up at 270-290 depending on which version you order.  I bet you won't be able to eat the whole thing.  Usually I can't.
