Lap band weight loss
Are you changing your eating habits ?
What are you eating ?
Are you drinking water ?
Are you exercising ?
Are you eating to much processed foods ?
Are you eating to much sodium ?
Are you tracking every little morsel of food that goes into your mouth no matter what it is ?
Is your calories to low or to high ?
Are you eating to many carbs or are you eating not enough carbs ?
I eat between 1000 to 1400 calories per day , I have between 40-80 carbs per day , and my protein is anywhere from 70-90 per day.
I exercise 4 days a week to Zumba with weights.
Eating to low of calories can be just as bad as eating to many calories. I can not lose weight if I go below 1000 calories a day and IMO anything less then a 1000 a day is not really healthy for you especially if you exercise every day .
The lap band is the slowest weight loss out there so t here might be weeks you will not lose anything. I can go as long as six weeks and not lose a single pound. The week before I dropped four pounds in one week but didn't lose anything last week that is just how things go for me .
I dont put out some outrageous number out there to lose every month either. I say 5 pounds per month . To me that is a very healthy amount to lose every month. I'm very happy if I just lose 5 pounds per month :o)
Everybody is different losing weight . I am losing kinda slow because I dont have no fills in my band and to be honest I dont want a fill unless its absolutely necessary , I would have to come to a standstall for months and months before I go and get a fill .
Some people lose fast and others lose slow . For me if I eat to little I dont lose, if I dont exercise I dont lose , if I eat to much sodium I gain weight .
You just need to work and find your niche on how things work for you . What I do might not work for you .
Tweak things here and there. Play with your calories, play with your carbs and see what works for you :o)
Just remember all the band does is help curb your hunger and with portion control that is it , the rest has to come from you which in reality is about 80% of the work :o)

Thank you for your kind words. Yes I have definitely change my eating habits I really had no choice after getting the surgery. I have only had one fill and I guess I'm just impatience. I also get very upset when I throw up. I went on a retreat over the weekend in Big Sur and stayed at this place called Esalen. All the food was organic and vegaterian really beautiful. I could hardly eat any of it. I sometimes miss eating salads really healthy salads and fresh vegatables. I tried eating tofu and it made me throw up. I then tried eggs the next day and I threw up as well. It really ruin my time in Carmel having to find bathrooms to throw up. I just feel really frustratied with the ideal that I can't just eat sometimes I always have to worry about throwing up. Has this ever happen to you. I cant only eat soups and yogourt. Beans and chips for some reason. I'm doing protein drinks in the mornings for breakfast. I also exercise about four times a week and I'm in school. What works for you? I can't believe how slow this process is and to go through surgery and throwing up all time I'm thinking of removing the band it isn't worth is. I only need to loss twenty pounds I'm at 165 now.
First off Valerie you should not be throwing up at all at anytime when you eat . That in turn can cause you some major problems down the line with the band if you continue doing this.
If it was me and this is me only if I was throwing up on almost everything I ate then I would get a pinch of fluid taken out and see how it goes for you . It dont have to be much but that might be just enough for you to stop throwing up . Some people just dont need alot of fluid in their band or they dont need none at all. And even though you have had just one fill that one fill might be just to much for you . In the long run its better to be a little lose then to tight .
There is no reason for you to live your life like that. I would call your doc and see if you can get in and see him and talk to him about what is going on .
Also if you only need to lose 20 more pounds its going to be a ***** to get that off. The closer you are to goal the harder it is for the weight to come off. It will come off but it will be very slow . This is when you really have to watch what you eat, exercise , and so forth .
Have you changed your exercise routine ? Your body gets use to certain exercise and it dont burn as much so you either need to do something different , or up your workouts to make you sweat even more :o)
Before you do anything make a call to your doc and see him. Throwing up is not good for you or your band .
Good Luck Valerie !!

I lost 135 pounds in about 18 months with my band.
I went from 284 - 149 pounds and am maintaining between 149 - 153 these days (8 months later)
I ate (eat)
B -- greek yogurt or some lean protein left over from dinner the night before (approximately 200 calories)
Snack -- small piece of fruit (about 50 - 80 calories)
Lunch -- 3 - 4 ounces of lean protein and some veggies (tuna or chicken salad, lunch meat, vegetables and a few whole-grain crackers --- for a total of about 300 calories)
Snack -- low-fat string cheese -- 50 - 80 calories
Dinner -- same as lunch -- protein, veggies, a little starch (about 300 calories)
Snack -- low-fat pudding snack, or fruit -- about 50 - 80 calories
I exercise at least 30 minutes each day (mostly much more) --- walking or elliptical machine.
I drink more than 64 ounces of water every day
I don't drink while I eat -- or for about an hour after I eat

All the band does, and even this is not what happens for everyone, is to help you decide when to stop eating and to help reduce appetite after meals.
So it s entirely down to the band's owner to select the quality and quantity of food.
If you eat less than your body needs, and that amount is different for different people, then you will burn stored energy I.e. fat.
If you have a very slow metabolism, if you live a sedentary life, if you are on some meds which cause weight gain, if you eat too much or make poor food choices, then you will lose little or no weight.
I lost all my excess weight on 1200 a day. For others it might be 800 or 1600. But whatever individual differences there may be, it really is using more calories than you take in. For some, for the reasons above, this is much harder than for others.
