"People with bands can never eat good good food again"

unfortunatly or fortunatly depends on the day but I can basically eat anything. Can't eat bread or buns but tortillas are ok. I just have to watch the amount I eat. And still have problems with some fruits and veggies. I think we all eat pretty balanced and I eat cheese like it is a major food group!

I'm seven months out and pretty much eat the same but smaller portions and I am averaging 1.5 to 2 lbs a week weight loss. I so love my band!!!! I agree with your post just eat in moderation.

The evil dietitian at my surgeon's office makes me keep a food journal(God how I hate that!)  No fills without one.  She rags my ass about any pasta, bread or rice I might have.  Well, I have very little of those and I'm eating much wiser these days.  And my portions are a 1/4 of what they were before.  I'm 4 months out from lap band and I've lost 40 pounds.  Not  too shabby!  So I, like you, indulge if I have a craving.  Just not the whole box or ice cream carton!

Personally, I'd have a "come to Jesus" talk with that dietician.  I'd tell her, I know why you don't want me to eat pasta, bread, rice and you're welcome to discuss this with me, but chewing me out about it is inappropriate.  I'm an adult and expect to be treated with respect.

But that's me and I am getting to the point with my weight loss where I am getting more assertive.  The other thing is that I would point out to her that negative reinforcement just might lead to prevarication.   Just sayin'.  :)

Congrats on your 40lbs.  That's awesome!

I just had my gallbladder out. I harped on the fact that i have a port and tubing. The doc painted a circle on my belly to remind him. While he was in there he checked out the tubing (it's fine) He couldn't see the actual band but said it was intersting for him..Upon releasing me from the hospial the doc said.." If you eat too fatty or too much you will be sick in the future".. then he said" Oh wait..you have a lapband..you'll be just fine!!!!"
 I think he got it

Petra-  I'm not sure what that doctor was talking about but I had gallbladder surgery 1 1/2 years before I had my band surgery.  I never had a problem with eating and my doctor never warned me of anything like that.  I still ate like a pig right up until my band surgery with no problems (other than getting fatter).   Hmmmm.... I wonder what is supposed to happen if you eat badly...because it certainly didn't happen to me.

As with all sicknesses, I guess everybody has different symptoms. My moms boyfriends gallstone attacks left him in bed and he couldn't move. My symptoms were not severe at all, and they took it out because of pancreatitis. What I knew about the gallbladder is that the bile helps breaking down the fat we eat. I included a link I found. I thought it was cool that the doctor listened to what I had told him about how I eat. I did not eat anything except a cup of jello and 2 Italian ices from Saturday night to Thursday afternoon. Right after  the operation the hospital puts you back on regular food..I told the nurse I wanted mushy because I didn't know how my band was doing. I got scrambled eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits. The Doc came in and told me to go easy on greasy food and not to overeat...and then he said..You won't have any issues because you eat well..Made me feel good :)

Just try taking my Saturday bacon away from me!  I'll bite your arm off and show you just how easy it is to eat meat!  As long as I chew well and slowly that is!

Yes, there is life after banding!
