eating
It's been a month since I had the lap band in, after 1 week, I was week I ended up in the emergency room, they gave me a iv, and felt a million times better. I had been drinking protein but I guess not enough. Now, I am hungry all the time, and hate to say it but eat like I used too, I
don't even feel the lap band. So, if I go back to the drinks, will this get me back to the start? Our is it too late, and messed up the lap band. I have an appt. w/surgeon on the the 8th. Hopefully,
if I get a fill it will make me feel full or at least be able to feel it? Any help or advice???

For me, once the initial post op swelling went down, it took getting my first fill to "feel" different. That lasted about a week. Then I was eating less, but as the month went on, I was able to eat more and more. I got myy second fill Wed, so far so good. As my P.A. told me at the appt, this can take up to 6 months. You will get there, so will I. ALl we can do in the mean time is watch our eating, calories, and so on... My Best to you!

Surgery scheduled for May 19, 2011.
My birthday is May 22, Happy Birthday to me!!!!!
Look back over old threads.
Until you get enough saline in the band to tighten it enough to give you a sense of restriction, there is nothing to stop you feeling hungry.
This is a time of waiting until you start getting fills.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
What your going through is completely normal. It's known as "bandster hell", the time inbetween surgery and when you get restriction.
My advice is 2 fold. One is to be sure your eating the right things (lowcarb/lowfat/high protien. Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restriction but at least you shouldn't gain any weight.
The other piece of the puzzle is excersise. It works wonders for weight loss and has so many other benefits. Since your only a month out, check with your surgeon to get clearance. You should be able to at least walk. It's so tough to get started (took me about 4 months post op to hit the gym). Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. I started with a slow walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes, now I jog for 30 or walk on an incline at a brisk pace for 40. You can do it!
As far as fills, don't be discouraged if your first fill doesn't do it. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction. Keep us posted on how your doing.
